Knicks · Get ready to Starphuck (page 1)

Jmpasq @ 6/28/2017 7:41 AM
With Melo now the defacto GM get ready for every available draftpick to be pissed away and you want over the hill stars get ready for the return of Steve Francis and Tracy Mcgrady to NY. This is a frickin disaster for the rebuild.
Im so sick of this bullshit why do we keep catering to this ball stopping ego maniac.
EnySpree @ 6/28/2017 7:48 AM
This is what I'm afraid of.... I don't want to starphuch just yet! We have work to do before we can begin to do that.... I'm just really down on the Knicks now. I don't care about Phil at all, I just care about the stability of the franchise ave the roster. We really need to stay the course in this rebuild through youth

Melo being the GM sounds like a lot of bullshit. Couldnt be the worst record in franchise history that got Phil fired. Nawwwww..

Does Phil play? Do you honestly think that Melo led the team? That he put the team on his back and carried them past 34 wins? Hell NO!!! The team that LBJ carried to his first finals with Cleveland was a 20 win team without him. That is what a leader does.

Melo is a selfish, do nothing player who has LOST every time.

THis team is doomed by choosing him over a 11 time champion.

Ridiculous.

Except we've seen this from Melo his whole career.

George Karl says he pulls this stuff.

Mike D'antoni said Melo made it between him and Melo and he had to quit.

Now 32 year old breaking down Melo slays the biggest winner in NBA history.

But they are all wrong right? Surely their decades winning and developing NBA culture doesn't count for anything and they are just bitter.

The current regime signed Melo to the max with an NTC. The current regime signed two starters who spent most of their time on the injured list. The current regime insisted on a system that is far from popular in today's NBA. Where is your redline?

I know Melo's flaws as a player, I know Phil's flaws as an exec. In the end it was Phil who brought Melo back. Im really surprised anyone is mad at the guy who took what Phil offered.

Phil was halfway between rebuilding (draft picks) and starphucking (overpaying for big names). This could go in any direction now. We could get pure starphucking which would be worse, or could get our first real rebuild.

No, the Knicks were in total rebuild with Phil. I didn't get the feel the Knicks were looking to make big signings this off season. Phil said point blank that Melo would probably be better off moving to a contending team so that denotes that he is committed to building rather than winning.

Rest assured, now the Knicks will look to overpay and most likely will move draft picks.

Melo is 32 and the defacto GM. Expect the Knicks to make a few moves now.

My guess is we end up trading youth and picks in a move that sets us up for another decade of mediocrity. Hopefully I am wrong but team leadership seems to be making the same mistakes over and over.

wasn't hiring phil Jackson with zero experience STARPHUCKING, we hired him because he was a great coach..

I started thinking he was working part time for Cleveland, he was willing to pay melo 50+ mill to go play in Cleveland with your buddies labron, shump, wade (I heard he's talking buy out now) and Jr and win a ring.

franco12 @ 6/28/2017 8:27 AM
Go back to McKinsey - maybe they got through to Dolan about trading future 1st rounders & that sticks. That is my hope.

Excuse me? The Knicks were in total rebuild with Phil? Then why did they get Derrick Rose and Noah and Courtney Lee in the first place? Then, when it looked like we could compete for the top pick in the draft, why didn't the Knicks order Horny to bench Rose and Melo and even KP for the rest of the year?

Exactly. Again Sinix made to look like a complete moron. Jackson couldn't even ensure we tanked properly. Senile old fool that he was.

Mid season last season marked the beginning of the tank.

With all that has come out about Melo usurping authority from Phil what makes you think the order didn't come down?

There were orders to play the triangle and ball movement but we know that wasn't carried out either with Melo.

I've been posting a direct story from George Karl the past couple days-

"But his real WTF moment occurred in March 2009 in the third quarter of a game against the Pacers. Carmelo had not scored much all night but then made two in a row. It was time for him to come out for a rest so I sent in his backup, Linas Kleiza, as I usually did. At the next dead ball, LK went in. But Carmelo refused to come out! After long moments of people staring at each other in confusion, but before we got a technical foul for having too many men on the court, Kenyon, to his credit, walked to the bench.
Well, well, well. Here was a new wrinkle in the coach/player power struggle, one I’d never seen before. It was also an incredible F-U to me. We suspended him for the next game.
After the game, which we lost 100–94, I had to talk to the media about it. Should I show my disgust at Melo’s childishness and lack of respect? No. I tried to be calm and understanding of behavior I couldn’t understand at all. So I swallowed my tongue. “There’s a thin line between passion and emotional immaturity,” I said. “It happens all the time, to coaches, too. We snap and act like idiots on the sideline because of the emotional stress of the game.”

Does it start to make sense now why, on the court over the past year, we've been making these moves that make 0 sense for the future of the Knicks? Like competing in games we should be tanking.

That's Melo undermining the front office for his own benefit.

Try and tell me with a straight face it's more likely Phil Jackson is inept vs Melo undermining.

Which is more likely based on the track record of these two guys?

Phil doomed himself with the contract he gave out, his record, roster turnover and drama with KP. The guy was considering bringing Rose back because of a good exit meeting. He Looked into trading KP because of a missed exit meeting.
CrushAlot @ 6/28/2017 8:56 AM
There is no money. Melo has a deal that can't be traded. KP , Willy, and Frank should not be traded. The K Ickes should not stretch or move an asset to get out of Noah's deal.
Knixkik @ 6/28/2017 8:58 AM
The best teams always find some mix between building for now and the future. As long as the next Prez/GM doesn't trade KP, Willy, Frank, or any future 1sts, they can Starphuck all they want for all i care. It's not my money. Building from within is most important.
