We aren't getting a new president before free agency, so what happens now is on Mills.
Does Melo pull out his little black book again? CP3, Teague, Lowry, George Hill? A lot of PGs could be changing teams. We would need more cap space though.
It won't be a popular choice to go after big name free agents because a lot of people want to see us rebuild. I personally don't mind us going after guys, as long as we don't trade Porzingis, Willy, Ntilikina or future picks to get there. The best teams build with both the present and future in mind. You can rebuild while spending money to win now. We have a foundation of young players to build with. Anything else we do should be irrelevant to that.
I don't think Melo is going anywhere now. The core of Melo and KP is here to stay for the long haul. Whomever takes over eventually as Prez has a pretty good situation. A young star to build around, a couple other solid young players, and all of our draft picks, plus they can only go up from here. I hope whomever is hired can rebuild the relationship with the media, agents, and players. But in the meantime, Mills will look to make a free agent splash.

Ugh I hate to say it but it might be time to move to the Brooklyn Nets. For how bad they are, they look like they are doing things right since the Pierce/Garnett trade while I can't support what Dolan is doing after what has been done the past 15 years here.

I like your game plan. My only difference would be to keep Hornachek. He deserves an opportunity to run the team as he sees fit. At least for a year.
