Knicks · Wow this is proof that we will never build a winning culture in New York and media is king (page 1)

The media strikes again, and Phil is the latest to go through the revolving door. What's it going to take to rebuild this team, 6 gm's ? 5Prez? We've seen some great minds come and go, all left when the media came crashing down on them.

Phil started something good we have a nice core with nitty, KP, Willy maybe Dotson becomes part of that core. We have a great bench guys in o'quin, baker, and lance.

I doubt Dolan will get anyone in here that has a good reputation, who wants to touch this team and let the media ruin their reputations. We'll probably just go after another ex great coach with no executive experience like Jerry Sloan.

We should hire someone who is loved by New York like Allen Houston. Or better yet Charles Oakley lol at least Dolan would get bitch smacked when they get shown the door in 2 to 3 years just like every other prez/gm

I think rebuilding with Phil was possible. It was the media spats and PR nightmare that caused this thing to fall apart. Phil didn't do a bad job from a roster standpoint, if you take away a couple of misses. Player relationships and PR was the reason you couldn't continue with Phil.

All the players have to do is Steven A this GM is getting on my back.

If Phil hadn't traded Lopez, brought in Noah, and Rose, I believe he would have survived his Triangle fetish. Some of you are talking about Phil building a foundation, you cant build it on a foundation of retreads. And that includes Melo's max deal.

Yeah, Phil caused a lot of his own problems. You can't alienate the media. Some of the criticism was warranted, but some of it was BS. But that what happens when you go out of your way to antagonize the horde. Also, he failed horribly at the Melo and KP situation that $h!t needs to stay in-house. Even Melo got that part down.

WTF are you talking about. This team is FULL of Phil Jackson players who are part of the Core for the future. KP, Willy, Nitty, Dotson etc. The Summer League team is already practicing and also full of Phil Jackson picks. There's not time for a new GM to change the process of working with and developing these kids that we've signed. We will go into the Season with most of this young talent in the pipeline.

Agreed that Phil just shoulda keep his mouth shut with melo and KP esp now that we know KP just missed the meeting due to family situation.

But he had a plan and he was going to rebuild, and the media f u c k Ed it up. Phil's draft was nothing short of spectacular drafting KP when everyone wanted Winslow lol if Phil drafted Winslow he would have been fired along time ago. Instead he drafted the future face of the franchise possibly the face of the NBA. And then he struck gold again in drafting Willy . Willy like KP is going to be a star .

Now everyone who was screaming for monk, and DSJ are going to be shocked when nitty becomes the best player of the bunch possibly the best player in the draft. Like KP no one had intel on except Phil and Gaines. Nitty is a homerun!

As for melo Phil just stated the obvious your window is closing to continue to play at your level I'm rebuilding this team, you had one good year with j Kidd running the show, other then that you've been the biggest loser here . Let's work on moving you to a contender and let me get some future pieces for you for my rebuild. He literally got blasted for stating the obvious. Phil was just speaking the truth and I think if the average fan just sat down and truly thought about what Phil was saying he was just speaking the truth.

The problem was he made them publicly if he just kept it behind closed doors he'd probably still have his job.

Maybe the next gm who takes over this rebuild will learn this from phils tenure.

I understand Nix, its the grief talking. The core of this team last season consisted of too many players who couldn't stay healthy.

There is a reason Knicks being Knicks. Here is not always about basketballs. Phil has few friends but too many enemies. He tried to be a tough teacher but it backfired. It is a players league and players do not like it. If someone skips exit meeting, a sensible management should beg for forgiveness.
