There are four to go forward with. But you blind eyes would have trashed Draymond Green and Tony Parker or any second round pick which is a steal.

The Knicks weren't really going into this summer expecting to make a Superteam. The Knicks have to go thru the process of GROWING OUR OWN STARS!!! You seem to be stuck in Quick Fix Mode!
Agree. Hard to compare. The point, I think is that Minny has done a much better job bringing in pieces around their young star. One thing that was a miss and will have short term impact and possible long term impact, if Frank turns out to be a bust, is to draft someone in who is not ready to start from day 1. Think Monk would have been a good SG and could have started right away. As I think Smith Jr. would be able to start as well. Will be dissapointed if Frank is not a starter.
Thing is I'm VERY HIGH on Dotson and I like some of the other UDFA's Phil brought in. I think this is the BEST UDFA class we've every had! Just cuz these guys are rather unknown doesn't mean that they aren't very good players that can be developed as solid role players for this team. Nitty and Dotson are Two Way Players! They have actual skills that fit a TEAM GAME. We have to be patient unless something good develops that the Knicks have to jump on.
Agreed....one thing that we have been able to do under Phil is maximize UDFA and develop them into real players or real assets down the line

I can think of three. Who is the fourth?

They had the #1 pick in kp's draft and look at how they have surrounded Towns with some very good talent.
Don't worry, everyone loves Melo and it was only Phil that was deterring players form signing here- I read it on all the beat basketball writings!

One is a UDF.

The Knicks are paying Noah 18 mil this year. That is some damage. Phil tied up 56 mil in contracts with Melo, Noah, and Lee. All three guys are in their thirties. How is that a rebuild or planning for one.
Because you need unlimited cap space during your losing rebuilding years right?
Knicks have enough cap space to get something done now. Before that's done, I don't want to hear anything about knicks not having room to make a move.

Correct.
I think the media bonfire of the vanities has blinded us to something obvious.
Instead of taking five years to do a rebuild, Phil succeeded in three. The FA off-season was anticipated by most of us who had a clue. It was always about the draft and not free agency. If Ainge with a busload of assets can't sign his targets its hard to seriously criticize the Knicks for not signing a high-priced token.
The giveaway that this is still Phil's plan lies in the lack of panic to sign a new GM. Panic is Dolan's signature behavior. It is more and more obvious that Phil and Dolan got together and agreed that the heat on Jax was becoming untenable for both parties. The blueprint for going forward was already in place and so this next season will be a continuation of Jackson's blueprint - Stay the course.
The Knicks are loaded with next generation talent that needs exposure and time - they'll have it. Hornacek will be able to coach without the hyenas chasing him around implying playing system basketball is geometrically impossible these days.
The Knicks have discovered that paying Phil with a desk position can be no different if he stays home and calls it in. The media now is confined to a bullpen where if any of them farts it will remind them of what the Knicks think of their reporting skills.

No, you need broke down, over paid guys in their thirties for your rebuild. The Knicks should be all set for the next three years.

What do they matter if they don't see the court and he cap space isn't going anywhere else?

It's real... Pheonix is in that boat, Sacramento and Brooklyn too.... we have to build ourselves back up. Once the Knicks build themselves back up, things will get better.

Phil tried to rebuild and be competitive at the same time. Signing Noah and Melo to long term deals blew up on him but he has collected some very useful youngins.

Towns is so much better than Porzingis its not even close, he should of been a Knick.

That's 2 more than we drafted in the last 17 years. But who's counting.

You would like to believe phils plan will stick, but i need to keep reminding you of a simple equation, Losses= Change. This roster has no one on it that other teams want, or willing to take a chance on. The dysfunction has sunk everyone's value.
We have, kp, willy and now frank, you consider at a boatload of next generation talent, that's more like a paddle boat. phil is 80-166, why would anyone want to follow in the foots steps of that track record.

KP,Willy, frank, baker,Dotson and a top 3 pick in next years draft. The only way this team gets top tier free agents is when they see KP turn into the beast that he is .
Draft luka doncic as your stud sg of the future
Future starting 5
Frank
Doncic
Another top ten pick 2019
Willy
KP
By 2020 this team will be in beast mode for contender status ... we've sucked in mediocrity for 15 plus years no more bandaid signings I'm down to really suck for 2 to 3 years to create a winning culture with KP,Willy,Doncic,Frank I think with that core we will attract vets, and top tier talent .
Usually the best way of doing thing is to do nothing.
Just catch the wind and use it, running against the wind is stupid and hard business.
No one succeed yet...
