Melo wants to stay in NY. Brooklyn has no incentive to tank without picks for the two years Melo is still under contract. Why wouldn't this work?
At the end of the say, the best offers that we could get for Melo involve a return of non-gauranteed money. The Nets could effectively absorb his contract without surrendering any salary and still have the means to sign guys to help make them competitive e.g. George Hill. Seems to make some sense.
What's in it for the Knicks?
he will only give up the NO TRADE CLAUSE for cleveland or houston

$26 million in cap space to play with and the ability to formally transition things into the Porzingis era.

The rumor before was that he didn't intend to waive NTC at all initially. Clearly things are fluid. And with the mountain of cap space that the Nets have, they might be able sign people to be competitive in the interim....at least more competitive than we currently are.
Do really believe Dolan would trade Melo to the Nets. I don't see it happening. Plus, why would Melo approve that trade. If he wants to stay in NY, he could just stay on the Knicks.
Yeah, he can't wait tho go bag I to play with Lin.

The Knicks don't want Melo and are rebuilding. The Nets don't have to be rebuilding and can add good free agents moving forward. Plus, Melo gets to get his revenge against us 4 times a year while staying close to home with his kid. Makes sense to me.

That transition will be over once impatient Knicks fans see the results and call for another quick transition. There are ones already turning on KP. I'm sure a lot more losing will help.
Why would Melo go to a bigger loser? Let's see, Rockets with Harden and his buddy Paul...check. Cavs with his buddy Bron and Irving...check. Nets with a snitch and a ..... nah.

He wants to win or stay as a Knick. He won't win as a net. Also, the Nets want young players. They traded Bropez and a pick to get younger.
Truthfully it would a dumb move for the Nets. Why take a declining player with a big contract like that. Its not like they have any assets except Russell who I know they want to develop into one of their new core

It's a 2 year commitment to a guy that just made an all-star team....

Hollis Jefferson and Allen are two good young players. But they are using their cap to take on salaries for picks or prospects. They also will probably offer KCP a huge offer like they did with Crabbe. It doesn't make sense for any of the parties involved. If Melo stays in ny why not stay as a Knick. He is well liked by his teammates and the owner.

So you're so desperate to get rid of Melo that you'd take Ryan Andersen for him? What about a reunion of Iman Shumpert and JR Smith? That's a better predicament in your opinion? Because that is the reality of what we'd receive in return to make contracts match and no amount of draft picks can make that worthwhile.
Was waiting for the "Let's bring JLIN home!" thread...

Your like the drunk uncle with the same line......Over and over........
Back on task..
Melo to brooklyn? He should want it cuz they would let him shoot. melo don't care about winning, he is chasing history and he can do so and stay with Kiyan. Actually its more fun in brooklyn cuz they practice on the river so he can live in Manhatten and not have to bold up to practice in Westchester!!! its more NY than Knicks!!!!!
But, Nets are looking long term. They could be more entertaining with Melo.
not a crazy idea, but they are better off spending the money on a young up and comer type player whom they have to over pay to attract. They tried that last year but Portland kind of went nutty with itself.
