Why wouldn't they have just signed Paul outright and traded Beverly and 2018 1st rd pick for melo??? I think almost all knicks fans would have been ecstatic with that trade right? Throw in decker and its really a know brainer.
allowed CP3 to keep his Bird Rights
Just because they want Melo doesn't mean they want to give up much to obtain him. Obtaining Chris Paul was much more important for them than getting Melo.
Yea but cp3 offered clips sign and trade because he felt bad.

The problem is they still cannot beat GS...that was the whole premise of getting CP..they need another move and Melo is that move....that does not get them a series win against GS but it makes them competitive
They thought the Knicks were going to waive Melo.... sorry Morey
Exactly!!! They thought the Knicks was just going to waive him.. Houston needs major weapons to unseat Golden State especially since A.I. and Livingston coming back now.. With Houston, Having melo, paul, cappella, anderson, harden, Nene(may not happen) would be nice but they took a seat back when they traded away most of their bench to clippers.. If 2 of the starters get injured, it won't be the same powerhouse squad.. Houston desperately need to add depth on the bench..
As for melo, sign and trade with Houston or Cleve would have to include a 3rd team.. Anderson from Houston and Love from Cleve are the primary trade targets but the knicks don't want any of them so a 3rd team is viable...

A poss 26th pick and a 8th in the rotation player for melo...you got jokes.
Melo to houston is such a inside joke, all you had to do is think about it for a sec, and you realize it's all bull shht..You can't say your trying to get younger then trade for 30 yrs old, you know MDA and melo is not happening, and the knicks are not stupid enough to take anderson contract. Then your talking about mills trying to facilitate a 3 way trade..don't make me spit up my coffee this morning....
By saying he was open to waiving is NTC for Houston and cleveland, he basically said i'm not interested in going no where..
