Just judging by what they were doing at SL
They will still run some Triangle but be more uptempo and shoot the 3 as soon as it's available
Very similar to start of last season
This time won't have to deal with Rose unable to pass or shoot a 3
Or Noah unable to catch and finish and be a liability on offense
Dont be surprised if the team averages more points next year
Everything I can hope for reallY. I just hope we get to see more team basketball where everyone actually knows what they're doing.
dont judge by summer league. JH is going to look at what KP, Willy, Noah, Baker, KOQ, Kuz and Lee did last year that worked. This is the real test. I dont worry much about the offense as I do the defense. But lets see. Where is Jeff's direction coming from with Phil gone? What has Mills told him? It might be to adhere to a system. It may be to make things as simple as possible and focus on getting the young guys shots and putting them where they can succeed. We just dont know. We dont even know if Melo is here or what that trade looks like. I mean thats really the pendulum. There are so many moving parts that none of us are privy to
Assuming the coaching staff does a considerable amount of preparation for SL and the timing of when Phil was fired (start of SL), I don't think we have seen what the offense will look like come training camp.
I think they have a roster in place with young players drafted scouted and brought in to be "skill" players that rely on jump shots to score not dribble reckless drives to the basket with supreme athleticism ... the type of talent we have we will not see players drive to the basket with no fear.
Just makes sense in a rebuild year to stick with the game plan but allow Horny full control in a way that he can make the players feel loose and comfortable shooting open looks.
I see these features
1- push the ball off a defensive stop
2- see if there is a quick easy open shot
3- space the floor
4- run a screen/roll with 1-4 spacing
Or
1- if scored on, bring the ball up with a 2 guard set up
2- set up Triangle
3- look for best shot available
I think we will see Horny get the team more shots and pace all season this year.
Key will be if they will have the players that can get back on defense. Have a motor on D. Last year they did not .
jeff was doing hybrid triangle last year and prolly with continue to do it with more cheap shots added in, modernize it lil bit
I see more of an effort this season to draw up plays for Porzingis to get going in the paint.
KP, Lee, Frank, Dotson, Baker, Randle, Lance, Melo (if he stays) are all above average 3 point shooters. I'm okay with taking more 3's as a team as long as they're quality 3's taken within the offense. It's the way the current NBA is going.
I think this comong season will be more fun then last season. Even with all the expected losses. Watching Willy, KP, Frank, Baker, Dotson, Kuz develop will make it more entertaining.

Jeff cant reduce his minutes. Melo wins that battle. Jeff is smart enough to know not to fight it. If Melo is here Jeff has no choice but to play him 30+

A trade would reduce Melo's minutes to zero.
Jeff is smart and he knows that a system like the Triangle provides a solid base for the players to work with. Jeff did a very good job crafting a Hybrid Triangle with Early Spread PnR or Drag Screens that flowed into Triangle.
Jeff can further enhance his concepts from last year. What kills me is how so few fans or Media recognize that what the Warriors run is the non Post parts of the Triangle. They got rid of most of the rules in the Triangle and the Post feed is less prominent. They run the same Dribble Handoffs, Cuts, Pin Down Screens and Drag Screens in the Triangle. The just turned them up to eleven!!!
Jeff is going to fashion an offense that gets the most out of these players. He's already done a lot of work on it from last season.
