Any of you other guys feel it? It's coming.
We had optimism entering this off season. It looked like Melo's reign of terror was over and we were going to turn the page with Phil's guys. If KP was going to be a problem, we were going to replace him with equal talent and Phil-guys.
What are we stuck with now?
A huge leadership void. No direction that we know about.
A team where the players feel comfortable pushing management for their own personal agenda. Lots of divas.
Bloated contracts that will make it so the Knicks can't make meaningful moves for years.
And the kicker, a team that's not even talented enough to make the playoffs even though we are spending like one.
There's a massive talent void and a massive cultural void and right now I don't see how either of them are going to be fixed.
We were maybe 1 or 2 years away from being in position to compete with Phil, now I see limbo for at least 3-4 years and at the end of that it's likely the Knicks are still going to be just a bad.
This is a real dark time for the Knicks.
NOPE! I don't see that. Knicks are building around some LEGIT young talent. These kids are going to get better and they're going to bond together and give Max Effort. All this team is doing is adding younger talent. ALL Knicks fans should be happy this team is building towards the future with our own players.

I might need to take this season off. Better save my dollars for Yankees tix. That youth movement makes more sense.

Just like when the Knicks put a young Marbury, Eddy Curry, Zach Randolph and David Lee together.
All young and epically talented. How did this turn out.
This Knicks team is the same exact thing and I'm wouldn't be surprised if it's Isiah Thomas created as well. Putting young players together just for the sake of them being young doesn't work. Especially when you have melo poisoning the well and Dolan up top.

What benefit to this contract? I would rather have payroll flexibility than this. Make a competitive team give me an asset to take on this contract. You are over paying for like 62 minutes of decent performance. THJ can disprove me by performance, but it is a bad management decision.

If Phil wasn't fired I was expecting a team with pretty clear books, lots of young rookies that play team ball and putting us in line to get a top 5 pick coming up and cap space to make moves next year or the year after.
What I see now is a bloated treadmill team that is not set up to play a team oriented style, cap space tied up for years and the kicker being the Knicks aren't even talented enough for an 8 seed. And no end in sight for this limbo. I see a series of disappointing seasons coming up with a flat lined trajectory and KP ultimately leaving for nothing.

Roster is far from complete.
Nalod is not thinking playoffs, but optimistic for the future. One that is beyond two weeks at a time.
I am afraid it is just the first step.
Mills is signing him not for the rebuilding, but competing. It means he really wants to do something now and is willing to spend some resources to accomplish it. Salary cap is the most moveable resource, and when it dries up (it means we are in cap hell) but we are still sub-par, then we have to do more.
Next sensible choice is to move players for another one. But since we overpay our players to get them here in the first place, we cannot trade them away. For example, THj is 18mil player, but with 15% trade bonus it will be 20.7mil, right? I am not sure we can trade him away like a 21 mil player. It will be too hard. It requires him to be a superstar.
That means we are struck with the players and we have no way to go out. You don't have cap and you cannot trade away your players to go rebuild. You only choice is double down and win now.
I think we all know too well what the third step is.
Trading away our first round picks to get more help, hopefully we can go over the top.
Knicks didn't trade away the picks immediately. We did it because we didn't have any major asset we wanted to trade away at the time.
If we start to trade away picks, I think we can safely assume we finally undone every "damage" Phil has done.

You don't know if this isn't EXACTLY the kind of Offseason Phil was going to have. I'm sure there might be some different names but the general direction would likely be the same. GET YOUNGER but talented players and move out older vets that don't fit KP's timeline!!! It's really not that complicated. Now they need to finish a trade for Melo and likely CLEE. They need to find a PG that can help bridge the gap until Nitty is ready.
This is mostly going to be about internal growth. No Banana Boat or Super Friends are coming to save this team.
What I see is mills putting the pieces together to build a core around KP. If we suck next year so be it and we get a top 5 pick .

To bad THJ is going to be under a microscope because of the size of his contract. It really takes the fun out of just being a fan and enjoying your favorite team when you get into critiquing the management of the team that deeply. I reached my breaking point 2 years ago. Now, I have much more enjoyment not being super critical and just trying to enjoy the team we have. Just like this message board, some times it is fun, but when it gets negative and every thread is pages of guys arguing and just log off for awhile.

If you've been on one basketball forum you've been on them all. I used to post on gfaqs NBA for years, realgm for years and other places that have basketball discussion. Believe me, don't believe me, doesn't matter to me.
