it would be funny if we trade Melo and end up making the play offs.

Certainly possible. He might also make his new team better if he has the right attitude. It might be a case where both teams win the trade.
newyorknewyork wrote:Suns have cap space as well. So they don't have to send a BS contract back. TJ Warren is almost guranteed to be thrown in due to them drafting Jackson and him being a RFA this offseason and the Knicks probably wanting a 23 yr old SF to go with their core. Warren might have been drafted under JHs tenure as well. Trade #1 Chriss and Warren would be ideal.
Trade #2 Suns take on Noah with Love and give back Knight, Dudley, & Warren. Edit I would ask for a pick back as well.
Would be a dream come true
Nalod wrote:You mean "Love" to phx? Right?
Yes sorry love and KOQ TO phx while chrisss and melo go to Cavs.
Cavs would look like:
Kyrie
Jr
Melo
Lebron
Thompson
PHX would look like:
Bledsoe
Booker
Jackson
Love
Chandler
Knicks would look like:
Frank
THJR
Warren
Bender
KP
All 3 teams make the playoffs, but of course this is probably a pipe dream
franco12 wrote:it would be funny if we trade Melo and end up making the play offs.
Denver got better when he left.

Correct, it would be consistent

We already have KP I think a more feasible deal would be for Chriss to go the Cavs and warren bender and knight to NYK with KOQ and Melo to PHX
You have to take Chriss. He has the most potential out of all the moving parts. He compliments KP & Willy perfectly given his skill set to complete a 3 man rotation at PF/C. As he is more agile and & quick and can be groomed to guard stretch 4s an area KP & Willy struggle with.

I'd be surprised if the Cavs traded Love to take on Melo. Love is the much better and younger player.

Making the playoffs is not a win though. Also, I think the Cavs will try to get a player or pick included with Melo since Love has more value. I think the best the Knicks can do is get one young player and a 2nd rd pick.
What makes Bender a starter in the NBA?
His stats and advanced numbers are awful.
From the Suns, I'd want (from who they would give up) Alan Williams and TJ Warren.
Both guys have starter level athleticism and defensive potential.
Williams
Porzingis
Warren
Hardaway
Ntilikina
Athletic, long, defensively skilled lineup.
Willy, Lee, Dotson off the bench give us loads of scoring ablity on the 2nd unit.

I would like Chriss too but I don't think we get him and I would prefer warren to Chriss

Bender would be a much better fit here especially given his potential as a point forward. Nevertheless Williams would work well here too

If it's making the playoffs with youth, I'm OK with that. You get a lower draft pick but a better shot at FAs

What about defense? He's got KP's size without the same level of athleticism.
I was in favor of a KP for Bender, Jackson/4th pick, Chriss trade. In that scenario, Bender is your KP replacement.
To play with KP, though? I don't see it.
Not many guys who had his first season turn out to be very good players.

Benders main attribute is his defense. He is very quick on his feet and can cover anyone from 2-4. Imagine that with KP on the defensive end who has the potential to do the same.
Whoops that was a reply to @nyknickszingis
Really? I wasn't aware of his defensive ability.
If so, that would change my opinion on him and KP as a combination.
nyknickzingis wrote:Really? I wasn't aware of his defensive ability.

Yup. While he shoots 45.9% FG he holds his man to 44.2 not a big difference but not bad at all for a 19 year old in his first season in the NBA. Him, KP, Warren, THJR, and Frank would strap teams for days when on their best.

Respect your opinion but can't agree. Chriss brings more to the table. He is on a rookie contract while Warren will get an increase next off-season. He blks shots, shoots 3s, potential to guard stretch 4s. With growing offensive potential. For Love I think we can ask for both. If Cavs want morw then Melo. Then I would want Chriss and they can take Warren.
I wouldnt touch Knight either unless they are taking Noah off our hands.

That's a super nice rebuild
That's also a super unrealistic trade you came up with. Why do Knicks fans always make trades up with the Knicks winning and they're hardly ever fair??
