Yep so we have the tweet (since deleted) of the Rockets writer who overheard Woj saying the trade might happen last night, and Nene posting a pic of Melo in a Rockets uniform saying how he was looking forward to playing with him (also since deleted). Hopefully today is the day!
I believe that there are two iterations of this trade. One solely with the Rockets which is already agreed upon in principle and a second one with a third team such as the TrailBlazers who are bashful partners. If we can't get the third team to take Anderson then we'll take him ourselves, along with a pick and maybe another player or two (Qi or Hartenstein). We're much better off with the three team option because then we can at least get Harkless out of the deal.
Would be a mistake to move the guy for pennies on the dollar right now.
Pick up Rondo, let him feed all the guys, win some games in the weak eastern conference and then move him at the trade deadline. His value is going to increase, especially with the player option next season. No reason not to op out if he has a big year and sign a 60MM extension elsewhere.
If the trade is for Ryan Anderson and scraps then I don't want the deal. I want at least 1 young asset a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick.

I'm not a Melo fan but I do think that he's going to have a very good year whether he plays for us or for another team. He can walk after the season and he'll want to play well to poke Phil. Keeping him for now might get us into the playoffs if we can sign Rondo somehow.
I been looking at Denver.... they have several players they don't want. They been trying to trade Faried forever. Wilson Chandler asked for a trade last year. Will Barton said he was out next year in fee agency. They are low on Mudiay as well.... would they do a trade sending Wilson and Faried maybe even Barton for Anderson and some Knicks players?
If we're taking Anderson, we better be getting a lot of draft picks.

Denver gets Anderson, Lance and Randle
Knicks get Faried, Wilson, Will Barton and 5 non guaranteed contracts from Houston
Works via realgm
Then we sign Rondo and push back into the playoffs

Again....look at CLE perspective...that is not enough for Love...mind you their leverage is not what it once was because Boston would not move heaven and earth to get him...You swap out Melo for Love and nothing else?? They are not going to take a Salary dump after giving up a fisrst over draft choice for him...
