Knicks Fans will be complaining about Nitty because he's not the same kind of player as a DSJ. Nitty is more like a Kawhi Leonard if he was a PG/SG. Not so flashy but very low mistakes and
excellent defense. Nitty should be great at Catch and Shoot, PnR or coming off DHO's or Curls. He won't be nearly as impressive doing And1 Ankle Breaking on a consistent basis.
One thing I did notice is Nitty sees the right pass VERY quickly and will let it go. While he's not a Pure PG he does have excellent instincts for such a young kid. Let's remember his age also. I wanted Monk but i've also understood the reasons why Phil wanted a very unselfish BIG Combo Guard like Nitty. In a team game he can be a serious ball mover and glue guy that leads to winning. Nitty is not your team's leading scorer or go to guy like a Fultz or DSJ. Still that doesn't mean he won't be big factor in helping this team win.
Melo is a better player than Tayshaun Prince. Guarantee you the Pistons have no regret passing on Melo in the draft and rolling with Prince as their small forward. Now, I know they wish they had drafted somebody other than Darko, but the point is Prince probably help them win more games (including a championship) than Melo would've in spite of Melo's superior stats and future HOF status.

I believe thats the motivation behind bringing THj on board. Frank has two or three young stars to distribute the ball and grow together.
THj
KP
Willy
Frank
(Need a young glue guy)
If we didn't draft Frank we were going to draft Monk- those were the two players that the front office were arguing about, not DSJ (I think Hahn or someone revealed that after the draft)

This is not an accurate comparison. Of Melo was on the Pistons he would've probably have grown into kawhi. The Pistons would have grown into a dynasty and would have never traded billups. Look how Melo took his game to the next level when Billups got there just imagine Rasheed, Tayshaun, Rip, and Ben mentoring a talent like Melo.
We are going to really regret fucking up this draft selection.
Smith is special. He's hitting jumpers, blowing by people, getting people easy buckets and is 19. He's a guy people would want to play with and would have solidified the lineup after years of searching for a point guard

No "we" won't.
Not all of us have our wet noses pressed up against every other team's windows at all times.dd

The points are nice but the pace and control he is displaying is awesome to watch. He is not playing at 100 mph when coming off the pick he is taking his time and making smart plays.
On top of that he is pushing the ball up court with the pass and not wasting energy doing it himself.
Man I hope Frank N is up to the challenge--Dennis Smith looks like a star NBA player.
3 best guys I have seen tatum Smith and Collins so far.

We Know Nitty has talent but his actual GAME is not the same as DSJ. Nitty is not going to win a highlight reel battle in terms of how he gets things done. Nitty is going to have to get it done with smart, team Oriented play and aggressive defense. Kind of like a smaller Kawhi.

Is who is not an apt comparison unless you think Frank is going to grow into a dynamic high usg and high efficient guy.
When I was looking at the draft lottery before the draft, I thought of Smith as a younger, smaller Derrick Rose - which might not be all bad, but not the direction the Knicks want to go.

If he shared the rock like Rose used to, it would have been a good thing for the Knicks.

Haha, naw man. This team hasn't made me that cynical.

Wasn't joking, looked like him.
The NBA is not an AND1 Mixtape!!! DSJ and other top players can look great in SL but that's not really relevant to winning at the NBA level. Phil drafted Nitty not only for Physical talent but his intangibles, BBIQ and potential. How his talent fits into a winning formula.
It's not and AND1 mixtape?
See John Wall, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving, Westbrook,
Curry.
Not sure who actually watched smith, but he destroyed people off the dribble, hit pull up jumpers, threes, found the cutter, blocked shots was active and vocal defensively and was efficient.
The kid is an all star talent. You don't pass on talent for a system player. It makes no sense. We needed a guy that could penetrate and get our bigs the ball.
As usual we blew it and have for 15 years. There is no such thing as wait and see with this organization.
