Totally understandable! Why shouldn't a successful NBA executive like Mills have the last word on how the team is run?
Look at all his success with the Knicks since first joining the team in 1999. Look at all the playoff appearances, all the championships. You would never hear about any lawsuits concerning unseemly behavior under his watch!
Dolan's consulting company was right. Of all the candidates in the NBA and elsewhere, no one is more qualified, better suited to take this team into the future, to build on all his past success as an NBA executive.
The fact that no NBA team would hire him when he got fired from the Knicks the first time, means nothing when you look at all the Knicks have accomplished since he came back.

I'm sick of this crap of how the Knicks are so obsessed with keeping the same yes people in place that have contributed to our putridness. The Knicks allowed Phil to set the direction of the franchise. Unless you're going to wipe out the New Core of this team you don't want SWEEPING CHANGES! You want smart management of current assets and finding ways to add more assets. The Knicks already have a PLAN in motion.
Knicks have a roster that's now structured around our drafted young talent!!! They've got to develop these players and keep adding to the group! No NEW PLAN is needed!!!

Yeah this. Dolan on the record gave Phil full autonomy and he brought in his own staff to do the job, so why wouldn't griffin be allowed the same autonomy? Unless he planned to do something completely different with the direction of the team itself which would be a bad move.

Yup but they've all MERGED quite well together. The Knicks aren't looking for an overhaul when all of these men actually do their jobs. They all played a part in putting together the young talent on this roster that forms the New Core of the team. They want to see what they have before tearing it up and going in a different direction.

One thing to consider is that Mills could be making the Melo trade on his own. Felt some comfort having an experienced exec like Griffin (with a track record) being brought in to make this deal. So we dont have a repeat of the Ewing trade.

Fisher was his coach.
Rambis was his assistant coach.
Gianes Jr was his scout.
This is all. He was in an enemy zone and everyone probably wanted him fired and took his place all the time. There is no previous regime. It is always this regime.
Griffin knows what happened. He didn't want to be Mills' heat shield. He wanted some reasonable chance to succeed. He would want something every respect GM would want --- His own band. I am not surprised, since when did Mills have the accomplishment to be Griffin's boss? Mills lost a lot, and Griffin actually has a ring.
At the end, Phil was too trusting. He didn't realize it was a trap.

Everything is wrong, but it is okay. I am pretty positive Mills will hire inside because he couldn't find a big name outside. Phil got killed, and a sensible GM should know from a mile that Knicks is where people's career die. It is always the case, and Phil was just the latest one.
Again I have to say something I said before. If Phil drafted the wrong guy, would you blame it to his scout? If Willy was shit, you would blame Mills or Phil wasting the picks? He signed the wrong guy (Noah, and actually the only big FA he got wrong), but should Gaine Jr have stopped him? So the truth is when things went right it is Gaines, but when things went wrong it is Phil?

That is because he doesn't have a lot of guys He brought in Jim Clemmons and Craig Hodges as well. I think Phil really wanted to be a consultant. He reshaped the coaching staff but not the front office.
