I think its too early to assume that. They haven't spent all that much time together, and they want to make sure that they speak as an one voice going forward. I believe Mills will let Perry work. Except for bringing in his own people, Im guessing he will have as much say as Griffin would if he were given the job with autonomy over personnel decisions.
Putting the house cleaning issue aside, I think the main reason Mills wants final say is because he wants to take some of the credit for the BBall decisions if the Knicks start turning things around. Getting positive attention in the media.
He's been at MSG in one capacity or another for almost two decades, and never in that time did I hear one person say or write anything about Mills being a good exec on the BBall side. I think this is more about redemption for Mills than anything.
If Mills lets Perry do his job, he can take all the credit he wants for all I care.

Ok they make a move to fire Phil based on players demand. The are catering to KP who skipped out on his exit interview. Every new regime points to culture but they all leave because of it failing. Talking about culture is equivalent to talking about bullshyt.

Did you actually watch the whole press conference? I think Perry looked at Mills once. There was one question asked to both Mills and Perry and Perry jumped in and answered it first. Mills just said he agreed with Perry. Are you so jaded about the past that you can't see a lot of positives from this? Dolan has already stated he is staying out of the basketball. They asked Mills what he learned from the past and he said in the past he was Pres/GM and decided he needed a GM to make basketball decisions. Team going with youth, athletic players, length, and building thru the draft. How can any Knick fan not be optimistic about this formula???

With a salary cap, you can't just get everything you want, especially if the previous president dedicated $62 mil next season to Melo, Lee, Thomas, and Noah.
Sure defense first I get it. But when Dennis Smith lights up the Knicks for 25 as a rookie in the Garden, I'll remember Phil saying he didn't want guys who could jump out the gym.
