Even sillier than that.
There is like 2 permutations of Knicks-Rockets trades and it's been weeks. Even if Morey and Perry speculate about other team's players, what is it people think they continually "talk" about?
The Knicks-Houston trade talks:
"How about Anderson?"
"No"
"Then how about Anderson?"
"No"
"Now Anderson?"
"No"
"I got it ... Anderson?"
"No"
gunsnewing wrote:Exactly. I think one of the reason we needed to hold on to our picks is to either use it to draft a rookie or use it to trade for a prime time player. Trading 1st round picks for Bargnani or Eddy Curry was stupid. Trading a 1st round pick for Kyrie Irving is different.Uptown wrote:stanleybostitch wrote:This is where Mills and Perry prove their worth. Do they starphuck yet again and drain us of assets, or do they play this right and take Irving for Melo + spare parts (Lee, KOQ, Mindy, etc.)? Every single time we are on the path to a youth rebuild, we muck it up. My main concern is if Kyrie - who wants to be 'the man', and does not want to play with one of the greats - turns into a Melo-Rose 2.0 ball stopping ME player. WE're trying to build a TEAM here! You have to give to get...Melo can walk nxt summer and all the cavs wii hqve to show fir the trade is Lee and KOQ? Or we can pass on trading for a 25 yr old champion and one of the best players in the league and hope and pray that we draft a player that can accomplish half of what Kyrie has already accomplished. And if we dont, rinse and repeat try to draft him again next yr...because hope is always better than a sure thing
Exactly I've been vehemently against trading any pick for other teams cast-offs. Kyrie is no cast-off and Frank is a #8 not #1-2
Also one thing I worry about, Irving and Hardaway could be the worst defensive backcourt in the NBA.

Well he's not going to Houston either.... there is absolutely no trade that works for the Knicks with Melo going to Houston.

Not If they plan on having Irving and Carmelo on the team together and try to compete next year? I like It!

But no way I'm giving up any of our best assets for him.I guess you failed to watch the playoffs last year and the Finals where he looked like the best player on the court.
I saw, though I never thought he looked better than Lebron. I also don't let the small sample size of a single postseason override everything else he's done. How did he look in this year's postseason; at any point did he look like the best player on the court? Did you know that this past season, the Cavs were -120 in 635 minutes with Kyrie on the court and Lebron off?
I've seen enough of a sample size in his career through the eye test to know: 1) He's a franchise player 2) He's top 3 pg in the NBA right now 3) He's the best ball handler in the NBA 4) He's ice water clutch
And he is only 25 and wants to come here. His best b-ball is ahead of him, not behind him.
If you're eye test tells you Kyrie is a better PG than Chris Paul, Westbrook, or Curry than you need to get your eyes checked.
This is classic dumb starfukk by the Knicks in the making. So much for emphasis on defense, same shit different dumbass.
gunsnewing wrote:meloshouldgo wrote:martin wrote:I don't know why, but I would not give up Frank in a Kyrie deal. Cavs and have Lee, Melo, KOQ in a package for Kyrie, but not with Frank going out.Agree, but not sure why we would want Kyrie to start with? Another ball dominant PG who takes a pass on defense. Ok so if we can trade Melo to Cle and get him, then we are replacing Melo with a younger healthier version of him. We don't seem to learn that this doesn't work. Kyrie will not let KP bee the center of the offense, what's the point?
Can't compare Kyrie to Melo. That's an insult to Kyrie who never revolted against his head coaches and teammates the way Melo has.
Kyrie is is good kid. Now Melo is too but Kyrie is smart. A Dukie and a coaches son.
The ONLY things compared was the need to be"the man" on offense. Between Kyrie and THJR hogging the ball, KP would be less involved than last season. People just can't stop wetting their beds about dumb starfukks. Kyrie averages less than 6 done as a PG. Shoot first, don't ask questions and WTF is a defense, player.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. This is the same kind of move we've been making since Isiah Thomas took over; guy who puts up a bunch of points but doesn't do anything else. Doesn't make his teammates better and doesn't play any defense. The only reason I'd even trade for Kyrie is to flip him for picks/young talent and we're talking about trading picks/young talent for him!

Yup the Knicks pulling this type of move is about as predictable as the sun rising in the East.
Apparently Steve "the numbers guy" Mills has a master plan. That or he was smoking weed when they taught classes on how to read the "defense numbers" at Princeton. Let's trade draft picks, and watch us great our ass kicked in the second round, such a desirable outcome.
If they do a word cloud on NY basketball you would see "All Star" and "Super Star" dominate the center. Defense wouldn't even make the page. Dumb fans deserve dumb owners and clueless management. It's a marriage made in heaven.

Some of the things discussed are deals worthy of Durant or LBJ. We have lost EVERY trade for a "star". Ill take Kyrie in a cost effective way--as in Carmelo Kuz and Oquinn--worst case Ill throw in a LOTTERY redistricted pick. BUt thats max. NO WILLY NO FRANK 1 RESTRICTED pick.. I think you're being optimistic with us getting our ass kicked in the 2nd round. I think adding Kyrie to this team has us fighting for the 6,7,8 playoff seeds at best.
And LOL out the word cloud, that's exactly what it would say!

Yep. We shouldn't be desperate to get Kyrie; he's not going to put us over the top. Cleveland can have Melo + KOQ/Lee/whoever. But our talented youth should be untouchable outside of a legitimate superstar becoming available.

I'm team VCoug when it comes to Kyrie. He's not just an empty stat guy; he's a not-too-bright (believes the world is flat), empty stat guy that we'd be asking to quarterback our offense. I'm tempted to not even want him at his salary, let alone giving up blue chip assets to get him. I think he'd have a similar effect to what Rose had this season i.e. not good.
