Why would melo make sense for them if Irving is gone? If Irving goes, Lebron ain't staying.

We can't trade Frank. First, i don't want to. But also, can't you not trade rookies and new FA signings until Jan or something?

GoNyGoNyGo @ 7/21/2017 4:52 PM
Most teams can do a better deal.

Who does Lebron want? Melo

Rose plays the Kylie part. Melo and Rose more than make up for Kyries's scoring.

If Lebreon wants Melo, He will get a Melo.

Ira @ 7/21/2017 4:52 PM
Great shooter - lousy defender. But definitely worth more than Melo.

That's my thinking too. When did Kyrie say this? It sounds like it's a reaction to the realization that they're not getting Melo and the team doesn't have enough to get past GSW. Maybe the Cavs decide their time is up and sell everything.

Plus why would melo want to go to the cavs if Irving isn't there? That team would not be good and they have no cap space

MS @ 7/21/2017 4:59 PM
Well they have to be ready for Lebron to leave in the offseason.

So Frank and Melo makes some sense to them if we include someone like KOQ and take back a bad contract like Shumpert.

Melo has his opt out and can follow Lebron to LA and be joined by Wade.

If they sign Rose for peanuts, this deal makes sense as Lebron just runs the point.

Lebron, Smith, Melo, Love, Thompson
Rose, Green, Korver, Frye, Frank

MaTT4281 @ 7/21/2017 5:01 PM
We complain about no defense from the PG position and now we want to bring in Kyrie? Pass. I'd rather give Frank the reigns. Hell I'd rather bring back Rose for an MLE rate than Kyrie.

Read another tweet that it had to do more with being The main cog on a team, and it also considered requesting it at end of last year. Don't think it has anything to do with Melo.

Ah, now rose to cavs would make sense- Rose replaces Irving, then add melo plus Lee and take back some money
newyorknewyork @ 7/21/2017 5:05 PM
Kyrie knows Lebron is leaving. Cavs are going to want to set themselves up for post Lebron in any deal. Kryie still has a lot to prove that he can be the best player on a winning team. So the price may be to steep without that assurance.
martin @ 7/21/2017 5:06 PM
I don't know why, but I would not give up Frank in a Kyrie deal. Cavs and have Lee, Melo, KOQ in a package for Kyrie, but not with Frank going out.
GoNyGoNyGo @ 7/21/2017 5:06 PM
To trade Melo for Kyrie is a no brainer. I DO NOT include Ntilikina in any deal. That goes against the plan. Kyrie has value and can be dealt anytime if he doesn't work out in NY.

Many teams have more to offer but Lebron wants Melo. Melo and Rose replace Kyrie just fine for Lebron.

In any case, NY must seize this to get rid of Melo and actually get an asset back. To me, it doesnt have to be Kyrie but a starter would be great!!

If only there was no salary cap.

The idea is to get rid of Melo. Not to keep him here. He can't win, he is not a winner, he is not a leader.

Kyrie plus Frye's expiring for Melo works if we can get Cleveland to do it.

Why do you have to look at out that way? How about Lebron is leaving regardless? They haven't done anything to improve the team and Lebron is supposed to be frustrated. Kyrie is saying he wants out... the ship be sinking.

So why not trade for Melo and they make a run at it together?

Because melo likes his money- if he goes to the cavs for just one year and declines his option he loses money (opts out of his last year) at which point he can only sign with a team with cap space which rules out the rockets. It's a bad business move for him and not worth it if they won't even compete for the one year he's there.
