Knicks · If the Knicks truly do not want Melo (page 2)

Luckily for Melo, he has all the power and will win out by forcing the back stabbing front office to deal him to a place that is best for him.
Btw Briggs...do you expect people you screw over and trash publicly, to help you out? Where does this thinking come from? Why would Melo help the Knicks out? For fans like you that would throw a player to the gutter for yiurniwn selfish interest? I know I wouldn't. And dedinately would not waive my trade kicker.
Melo is being ridiculous with giving only ONE OPTION so F Melo! Let him stay until we can get a better deal for the franchise.
You don't know if Mills is slimy and actually many of the old Front Office guys have good reputations. The narrative you've bought into is mostly Media Driven and there are lots of agendas behind that. Melo would be gone already if not for his ridiculous stance of only one destination.
Contrary to your and Melo's belief he does not hold all the cards because the Knicks don't have to trade him. Taking on a bad contract is more detrimental than Melo's presence next season would be!

Crush--this happens a lot in sports. We gave him a NTC--yep. But Im guessing that by what various members of Knicks management did and did not day(positively)about Melo--that they do not want him as part of the team. Melo expressed that he would be open to a trade. Hes got to be fair and open that up to 4-5 teams. I think that is fair. If not--the Knicks can simply UP th ante by not including him. Players wont see anything--NY is still a great destination. The guy's making 25mm+ he can open it up so we can do a deal OR he can sit home and collect checks.

Next season is one season. It's no going to define Melo's career anyway.

So by making him stay home, Melo's going to magically bring back something better than Ryan Anderson's tired contract and/or some other pile of steaming sheehit that will set the franchise forward? No, keeping him home lowers his trade value, and is a petty little grade school recess way of dealing with things. Play the games, eff tanking and see if KP, Willy, Frank and Butler can actually win some games, with or without Melo.
I've never understood this piss in your own oatmeal worlview of some fans. Let's not really tank, but lets start KP who obviously hasn't proven he's an NBA lead role guy yet, Willy who was -131 or something total as a starter last year, Butler, who's at best proven to be a capable backup PG, THJr. who could turn out to be this regime's Jerome James contract, and an unproven Euro teenager with great empty gym highlights. Add some flotsam, mix, shake, stir. Voila! We're going to just miss the playoffs and still get a sleeper in the draft! And that will make KP want to stay here!
You people need Melo. You want Melo. You need him standing on that wall!

Following that train of thought, the Knicks are not obligated to trade Melo because he wants to be elsewhere. The team may have erred in giving him a NTC, but Melo also erred in signing it. They are BOTH committed to each other for four years, with the fifth year being an opt out year. If Melo's desire is to be elsewhere AND take the money, he too will need to be more creative.

Melo's value is what its always been ever since he came into the league. Everyone has known for a long time what his value is, except only now he is older. He's a talented yet inefficient volume scorer who is still capable of 30 point nights and occasionally hit big shots with some dazzle with practically no defensive effort.
There's no such thing as increasing or decreasing his value anymore. It stopped a long time ago. These media idiots who constantly harp on his "value" have 0 idea what they're talking about.
Completely agree

I don't get it either, there are hours of tape from last season that paints who and what he does.
Its not like Phils words some how lowered his value given he has a NTC.
If he wants to be traded he can give us a list. He does not want to be traded. We don't have leverage.
But, we don't have to trade him. We don't have to play him. We just have to pay him.
If he wants a buy out to resume his career, he can get one. If he wants his money, we are his ATM machine.
Knicks don't want Ryan Anderson. Might as well keep melo.

Melo didn't err in signing it. It gives him the power to determine which teams he can be traded to. You're right we don't have to trade him. No team has to trade any player. Given everything that's transpired, it seems like a bad idea for us to bring him back but we are free to make bad decisions.

Melo doesn't have to go he has a NTC. NTC doesn't give the right for playing time that is at team's discretion. Personally I agree instead of bringing back bad contract just limit his minutes. If he doesn't like it he can opt out, if he doesn't mind the limited role he can finish out his contract.

We don't have to trade or bring him back. We can pay him and just ask him to take the next season off, send him on a sabbatical to China or better yet Afghanistan. He can be an ambassador for the NBA are Dolans's expense. Even Silver can't turn that down

Hopefully Melo increases his trade list and everyone can walk away happy. They should do what any respected professional franchise would do. Move on by taking the hit for signing him to a NTC and changing directions. All respectable businesses know they have to pay the price for a mistake. They take it like men and move on. Specially after the previous Prez trashed him. But most Knick fans want to keep acting like this is a middle school team and they can force players to do anything they want even after screwing them. What are the long term repercussions of being a unprofessional franchise? Clue...look at the Knicks. Would hate to do business with that type of mindset. Mills hits me as that type as well. Reason why I think the Knicks are not any closer to being a respectable franchise. We have the same slimy guys at the top.
Phil and Dolan were ridiculous when they gave him this contract. Melo gave us 1 more team than he has to.If Melo like it here in NY he can stay one more season and add more losing to his losing resume.
He may became biggest loser of all great hole-of-fame NBA stars!!!
I'm gonna guess that for most people where they live is more important than the company they work for as long as their job is stable. I work for an employer that is about average at what it does. No way I would move just to be with a better employer.
Next season is one season. It's no going to define Melo's career anyway. But he definitely belongs in the "hole of fame".
Absolutely...
And the Sent Closk is ticking for this to happen!!!
On the otherhand, if Melo decides to simply not show up, then at least the Knicks don't look like arsholes and hopefully free agents will still want to eventually go back to doing business with us.
Melo hasn't helped us make the playoffs in years. Do people really think he'll magically start now, especially since he is older and more injury prone?

Good to know you still have a sense of humor

You have absolutely no idea if that is accurate.

Ridiculous? So exercising his NTC that Phil gave him after being trashed is ridiculous? Spoken like a true selfish fan. Props. He holds all the cards. He will go to his desired destination. Or stay. Think he is ok with both. But know he will be in Houston before the season starts. Knicks know it roo.
