for Melo
Waive and stretch JR
FAIR DEAL
I'd do it. Would Cleveland? I doubt it. Would Melo? I doubt it.
I don't think there is any chance they throw in the nets pick. I believe they have the Blazers pick next year as well. Would you do that deal if it was the Blazers pick? Also, I don't want anything to do with Shump. I thought I saw rumors of Love being available.
The deal is feasible as the window of another championship is slipping for LBJ just as it is for Melo.
Neither are concerned concerned about a first round pick yet the Cavs are. This is probably their best opportunity
With the firepower that IT Melo Love and LBJ bring
I would do it but the Cavs wouldnt. Those 2 have no place on this roster I would flip them for a bag of cheese doodles
As long as we can immediately cut both JR and Dumpert - I am good.
The number one change the Knicks need to employ/maintain Is to no longer be the place where bad contracts go to die. Having stupid bloated contracts on the books prevents them for having the flexibility to make moves when they present themselves. If they are going to have crappy players, so be it, as long as they are paid commensurate with their production. Jury is out on the Hardaway deal (personally, I'm not optimistic) and we already have an albatross in Noah. No more dead wood.

FAIR DEAL
If the Cavs were willing to move the Brooklyn pick, they'd almost certainly move it to the Clippers for DeAndre Jordan and Patrick Beverly. Both of whom would be far more useful to them than Melo would in terms of winning.
Odds are the Cavs would make that trade, THEN WAIT for Melo to become enough of a disruption that the Knicks buy him out and he signs in Cleveland for the veterans minimum.
Cavs consider that pick to be the real get in the Irving deal. Seriously doubt they are giving it up. They have to think post LeBron.
Beating the skeleton of dead horse...
There is no chance that Melo agrees to it and there is less of a chance that the Cavs agree to this. Whoever that pick turns into potentially holds the future of the Cavs in his hands.
Even if Melo agrees to it (which he wouldn't): Then you are giving up the future for a player who won't even stay after 2 years because there is no way LeBron stays. The Cavs have to begin their revuilding process before they begin rebuilding!
We're not getting the Brooklyn pick, but we may get the Portland pick in that deal. I'd do it if Melo waives and the Cavs agree.

After watching that triangle video in the other thread and renewing just how lazy he is we have to move him. I dont even care if we get anything useful back I just dont want to hurt the team long term. If he comes back Jeff needs to have some balls and management needs to back him. If he doesn't run the offense he sits. First weak ass cut you sit him down. If he doesn't have the stamina limit his minutes to where he can give max effort. We can't have this guy torpedo spacing and offensive speed because it benefits him
Rumors are the Cavs are trying to move that Brooklyn Pick..... still a reach we could get it but I would send them Melo for all of their trash for that pick. Frye, Shump, and Richard Jefferson and that pick would still be the best deal the Knicks have been offered.
That Brooklyn pick is nice. I can live with Shump but JR is just a deal breaker for me.

Shit I wouldn't be mad if they took him and then waived him just because of his immaturity last time he was here.
If we got the brooklyn pick I'd take JR and shump in a second. JR can come off the bench or rot for all I care. It wont happen though, unless we get lucky and Dan is a total idiot like King was with the Nets.

FAIR DEAL
melo said no to cleveland, soooooooooo... did you hear something?
He's not getting Houston though /shrug
So CLE is going to trade 2 of their shooting guards for a SF/PG PLUS the pick?
Come on.
They keep JR and maybe dump Shump, Frye, and trash first and would want Lee/Melo.
Gilbert saying he might sell the Cavs in a couple of years might have something to do with his apparent willingness to trade what should be a high pick. Maybe wants one more run with LeBron before he sells the team.
