Knicks · Beas and Derm (page 1)

Alot has been said about trades. But what Beas and Derm brought against Denver is exactly what we need. Beas was annoying a little bit with his 2 bonehead turnovers but he quickly cleaned those up and made a lot of great defensive and passing plays to help facilitate what's going on a both sides of the floor. Derm also did the same thing and he happen to hit all his open 3 point shots which is exactly what we need him to do. So between the 2 of them they brought exactly what we need off the bench. If they can step up their game and become part of this new unit then we have a freaking powerhouse on our hands right now.
Chandler @ 10/31/2017 12:55 PM
I have liked Derm. He needs good pg and passing to contribute

Less sure about Beas but I definitely get the sense that when he's out there he's at least trying to do more than score. I commend him for that and imagine the coaches are telling him he needs to do that to get time on the court

stanleybostitch @ 10/31/2017 1:04 PM
Eny, did we watch the same game? Beasley never gets his hands up when a guy is in his face, and plays Matador-D, just watching his guy blow past him. We don't need this kind of "effort" on the floor, I say bench him.
martin @ 10/31/2017 1:19 PM
If Knicks don't make trade, I see Beas getting cut

I agree - he's the forward version of Jennings

Either Sessions or Beas are done once Noah is back. That tells you something about their play. It’s the internet
Watch the game again!!
Allanfan20 @ 10/31/2017 1:56 PM
I had hopes for Beasley but at this stage of his career, Beasley is a dime in a dozen. Lee is far more valueable.
EnySpree @ 10/31/2017 2:34 PM
You guys just hate Beasley. I don't know what he did to make people hate him so much.

Never said he had a dominant game.... He did have several key plays for us that we needed from him off the bench. You guys should watch the game over. Wash the hate out your eyes

NYKBocker @ 10/31/2017 2:55 PM
Beasley is the 2nd coming of Lee Nailon

Beas hasn't been all bad. He's trying to pass and he's been active on D. Could be better. Kuz should get cut over Beas, but I'm not sure how that work's financially. That said, I wouldn't cry if he did get cut. I'm not sure we need Sessions if we have Baker, but I'm not sure how a sessions deal would work against the cap if he gets cut, not that it matters in the short-term anyway.

Ha, Lee provided a spark of entertainment on a bad Knicks team. Good call back.

I don't think Beasley is trash or whatever, I just think his game is one dimensional. I think he's probably better than Lance or Sessions. Lance stays because of his contract. Sessions stays because we need PG insurance. So I just think that's the way this lines up

nixluva @ 10/31/2017 3:19 PM
Seems Beasley’s Main strength is as an ISO scoring option. He’s much less useful from an overall standpoint. It’s weird cuz he’ll show you glimpses of a more complete game but he’s inconsistent with it. He’ll go brain dead on you just as much as he’ll make a savvy play.

The presence of Kuz makes Beasley expendable IMO. When healthy Kuz has a better TEAM style of play. They could cut Sessions and keep Beasley.

nixluva @ 10/31/2017 3:33 PM
What do you guys think about making a trade for Mario Hezonja? He’s not looking like he’s in the picture in Orlando but he’s still young.

Zebo13 @ 10/31/2017 3:39 PM
Beas just looks and acts stoned and out of it whenever he’s on the court.

if they wanted Lance and/or Kuz I would be interested but outside of that I'd pass

That's what everyone says. There's also "I think he's one dimensional" stuff... but then you watch the game and see he's rebounding well, talking well out there, passing the ball well and getting into his proper sets. He's been decent and playing team ball.

He might be the guy we cut, but regardless I jyst want guys to open their eyes to what they see not what the running joke is or what has been said about him.

McDermort makes Kuz redundant IMHO. I think Beas gives us more lineup options. And I was high on Kuz after his tournament performance. But either way, don't see it being a big deal.

I kinda take exception to you inferring that I'm not paying attention. You're basically seeing what you want to see. The advanced stats indicate that he is in fact trash. I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but now I'm going to point out that he really isn't doing anything good at all out there. This year:

-PER of 5.4
-TS% of 43.9%
-BOM of -7.4
-WS of -0.1

if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, look at his WS - he is a slightly less than average player. But if you want to look at the whole picture, he's trash. He's essentially putting up worse numbers than Ron Baker and provides none of the intangibles. But yeah I'm the one who isn't paying attention

WaltLongmire @ 10/31/2017 4:23 PM
McDermott looking a lot like a Korver type in terms of off the ball movement and quick release shooting. I actually thought he was competitive on D, too.

He, and some of the others on the team, seem to have finally understood the offense Hornacek wants them to play, and he is much better than Kuz and Beas moving without the ball.

I think he is only going to get better as the season progresses...

I really Like McDermott. He’s the right kind of player for this style. He’s picked up his effort level and shows he has good BBIQ. Of course his jumper wet as hell. They need to work on more ways of getting him the ball.
