Knicks · How about Kuz and willy for Okafor? (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/2/2017 8:02 AM
I still think he can be quite an nba player and there is no better defensive pf than kp who can potentially play next to him. It gives the Sixers a 1 at team rookie of year who's in a tough spot here and we also make room for Noah's spot. Let them throw in one of their 2018 2 nd rounders because of Willis contract protection-- maybe the one we traded them for willy
FrenchFreak @ 11/2/2017 8:30 AM
I wouldn't do that. Objectively I think Willy is a much better asset that Okafor right now. Okafor will be a free agent after this year and is making 5M bucks. The Knicks have three years of control over Willy and he'll make less than 5M TOTAL through 2020.

Okafaor needs to go somewhere he can play regular minutes. With the Knicks he'd basically be in the same situation that Willy is in now. Not enough minutes to go around and Noah will be back soon to complicate it further.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 11/2/2017 8:38 AM
no thanks. NYK need a 3.
franco12 @ 11/2/2017 8:48 AM
If we're trading for under valued players from KPs draft class, how about Mudiay? I liked him then - didn't really watch him closely in our game.

Not sure what we could send or if they would even move him.

I have to imagine that Chicago's 2nd round pick is going to have a lot of value this year! Great trade for us for once!

GustavBahler @ 11/2/2017 8:51 AM
Supposed to be a deep draft? We move Willy (if things dont improve enough) as part of a package for an unprotected first rounder. Not really sure how we get there though. Two high first round picks, in a deep draft could net us a SF and a PG prospect, depending on Frank's progress.

Add them to the young talent the Knicks already have, we could get through several seasons of the "process" in one offseason.

fishmike @ 11/2/2017 8:51 AM
no thanks. Makes no sense for Knicks.
Knixkik @ 11/2/2017 9:08 AM
Willy is more valuable than Okafor, both on the court and in the locker room.
BRIGGS @ 11/2/2017 9:21 AM
Actually I think it's a very decent trade for both teams

A pla for has already avg 17.5-7-1.5-1.5 when he was 19 numbers we hope willy 1 day gets too. Pla for is I believe younger than willy. If we can't keep kanter what exactly does pla for do much less than him? He's a beast in the post rebounds and will take pressure off kp-- and it would not cost us 18 mm per. If anyone saw him in his game this year he looked very good-- he's simply not as good as embiid. He's much more of a guarantee than willy

Not sure about that. I'd rather see Willy develop into that role. He is struggling now. It happens. JH is mkaing him earn it. That is the exact right way to handle it. WH needs to get hungry, really hungry. Does not seem to be right now.

I don't disagree about Okafor being a better talent that Willy- I just think Willy fits better with our team and what we are trying to do within a team concept (passing, ball movement, etc).

I think Okafor may not fit that.

its sucks. How does OK4 do anything to help the Knicks. Where does he play? Who's minutes does he take? OK4 looks like a poor man's Greg Monroe. He's nothing more of a guarentee than Willy. He's shown nothing more. Nada.
Finestrg @ 11/2/2017 9:35 AM
Why can't we just play and actually utilize Willy more? Establish and continue to feed Kanter then when he needs a blow, you go right to Willy who would provide a very similar post threat (and solid rebounding as well). Simple adjustment for me. Playing and getting Willy involved would only increase hm value anyway.
meloshouldgo @ 11/2/2017 9:42 AM
Horrible idea, doesn't solve pour logjam at 4-5, doesn't get us an SF
IF Miami was willing to move Winslow i would definitely consider that

saw reports yesterday that philly is looking into buying out okafor, because they can't trade him. why trade 2 good chips for a guy we can pick up off the street?

Pick #2 was traded for cap relief, #3 may be bought out, and #5 is dead weight

Because we won't be able to pick him off the street (if we wanted him). Apparently Boston is interested in him but aren't willing to give up much for him.

I don't see why Philly and Orlando don't just swap Okafor for Hezonja?
