Knicks · Damyean Dodson Has A Better Shot and Basketball Instincts than THJr (page 1)

Please give him more minutes.
Bring Hardaway off the bench. He is not bringing much if his shot is not falling. Sound familiar?
Start Courtney Lee. He and Ntilikina will be an effective pairing in February.
That is all.

He's got to wait his turn... his time well come. Lee and THJr aren't playing so bad they need to be benched. Frank and Jack need minutes too. His time will come
meloshouldgo@ 11/11/2017 10:52 PM
Yes and yes

Feel like he will start in 2 years with THJr off the bench.
And much better D
Cartman718@ 11/11/2017 10:54 PM
DD is just as inconsistent. Defensively it seems like he’s better. But offensively haven’t seen him drive past anyone
misterearl@ 11/11/2017 10:57 PM
Defense

Defense is where it starts.
Cartman718@ 11/11/2017 11:02 PM
I was no fan of the 70 mill contract. But let’s not get carried away yet. Dotson’s high was against Kings. Thjr is the only player outside of KP on our team who can get really hot really quick. I do think with more coaching he could do well. Unless he has already made up his mind to be Jamal Crawford.
MS@ 11/12/2017 12:26 AM
Hardaway sucks. As bad as an IQ as it gets. Frightening how much money he was gifted. Looks like the same lost rookie when he was here
Welpee@ 11/12/2017 4:42 AM
Wow, dude has one good game in garbage time against one of the worst teams in the NBA and he should start? A little reactionary aren't we?
BRIGGS@ 11/12/2017 5:32 AM
Thj is easy to depict He’ll give you the 35 point game he’ll give you. Few 20 point games but they are surrounded by to many games like last night
Ira@ 11/12/2017 5:53 AM
I think he's shown enough to get regular minutes. The problem is Hardaway, Lee and McDermott are all ahead of him. Let's see what happens this afternoon.
nykshaknbake@ 11/12/2017 8:07 AM
Does thj have any trade value? Would we be able to give him away for expiring without packaging a pick? He's gotta be at least slightly more moveable than Noah.

Well yes but is that really a feat. Its a bad contract one that made no sense to be given. He and Noah will keep us from becoming a championship contender long-term. We won't be able to get another max quality player in here now before Porzingis makes 40 million a year killing all are cap space for the next decade. It was beyond stupid and showed no long term planning. Those 2 dumb ass contracts is why tanking this season was the only alternative to get the Knicks the final piece. Once Porzingis gets a raise you subtract Noah and Hardaway and you still have no cap space. Tell me unless we long shot into a top player in the teens does this team get the SF to tie it all together. The only saving grace is that this draft does a few SF's that fit the direction of this team
MS@ 11/12/2017 9:02 AM
Hardaway sucks. Terrible signing. Awful player.
Consistently takes rusher three pointers and always overplays on defense. He was 2-11 against that Kings. If he played half way decent to start the season we would have two more wins. We have a nice team and being able to add someone in the off-season with hardways 18MM and Bakers 4MM would have been very valuable.

TH JR did just average 21 PPG (47% FG), 5 rbs, 3 assists in the prior 7 games. He's hitting a great percentage of his 2s but his 3 point percentage is awful (and he's taking too many 3s). It's way too early to reach any kind of judgement. Look at Allan Houston's first month with the Knicks: 12 PPG (36% FG), 2.7 RPG, 2.9 APG. TH JR has a lot of potential and has played well (and consistently) for stretches of many months. I'd give this 1 to 2 years.
Uptown@ 11/12/2017 9:34 AM
Where was this thread after the last game where THJ put up 26 & 11? And Dotson played all of 1 min? In fact where was this thread over the last 7 games where Hardaway played very well?

Fair post....agreed.

Dotson should play a little more,, but I don't think he's starter material. THjr is more complete as a player, but he was brought in to pour in points primarily.
Clean@ 11/12/2017 9:46 AM
I am surprised so many people are down on Hardaway. I have no problem with how he is playing right now. He is a scorer that still plays team basketball. He pushes the pace and drives to the hoop. Teams respect his shooting ability so they don't drop off him and clog the paint. These are things we have lacked for many years. While he at times gets a little shot happy he is still a very willing passer. His defense is no longer terrible. He can go on periods where he carries a team and has hit multiple clutch shots. He is not a superstar so he will have his flaws but he works perfectly for this team.

Tim Hardaway has shot 45% or better 3 times in 12 games. he has shot 36% or less in 6 of them. He really needs to focus on calming down in game--thinking more.

No.. actually it sounds like you havent been watching. Timmy's had games where he's racked up assists and rebounds. He doesnt stand around on offense, Jeff uses him to set tons of screens. When Enes hits KP slashing to the rim for dunks go look at who set the pick, mr. low instinct THjr.
Also worth noting for all his inconsistent shooting he's shooting 50% in the 4th qtr over all and 50% from 3 point. He's been great late in games.
Ive also watched his defense perhaps closer than anyone else on the team and he's been good. Not great but decent. What has been excellent is his effort. Its been 100%.
This is what good teams do and how they sustain winning. They have healthy competition at positions. They have pipeline guys coming off the bench. There is a progression here. Dotson is not even close to THj yet. I remember mister.earl saying the same things about THjr the first time we had him.
THj has been a good rotation player. He does a lot of things besides shoot the ball. If you think he's useless if not scoring you havent watched much the Knicks this year. THjr has been a big part of why the Knicks are playing well. When he has struggled to shoot he's done other things. He was the best player on the floor in Cle. When KP was out Timmy stepped up and grabbed 11 boards to go with 26 points and he shot well.
I am super bullish on Dotson. Great value pick and I see him as a good rotation guys for years to come. He's not there yet and he's not better than THjr. He looked good against a bunch of good college players. Kings have good talent, but most of it isnt any more NBA ready than Dotson.
Sorry earl... fail on this one.
If the contract pisses you off fine. Maybe it hurts down the road, maybe it doesnt. But saying he's not bringing much when his shot isnt falling? Furthest thing from it man
