Melo and him were clearly the main problem with the team last year.
He's a nice guy off the court, but he's extremely selfish. A team chemistry killer.

Unless he's playing like an all-star or a MVP, he's worthless to have.

yeah. Have to wait for the full details to come out but it does seem to me that Rose does have some mental things going on re injuries and/or controversies. Raw talent without a mental game.

Derrick Rose away from Cavs, evaluating future in NBA

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose has left the team and is seriously re-evaluating his future in the NBA, league sources told ESPN.

There is growing uncertainty inside and outside the franchise about whether he will return to the team, league sources said.

Nevertheless, Rose's increasing frustration with injuries is causing him to consider his desire to continue playing in the league, sources said.

One team source told ESPN of Rose: "He's tired of being hurt and it's taking a toll on him mentally."

Since suffering a torn left ACL in the Chicago Bulls' opening game of the 2012 playoffs, Rose has been plagued with injuries, playing in just 237 out of a possible 412 regular-season games.

Rose was last with the Cavs for Monday's 116-88 win in Detroit. According to a team spokesman, his current absence from the team is excused.

Last season, Rose went missing from the New York Knicks on a game day without permission from the organization. He was fined by the Knicks and apologized to his teammates when he returned the next day.

"That was a family issue," Rose explained at the time. "For one, it had nothing to do with the team or basketball. But that's the first time I ever felt like that emotionally, and I had to be with my family."

A Cavs spokesman said Rose's current absence is different than the Knicks situation because he is not an active player and he communicated with the franchise at the outset of his leave.

One week ago, Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said Rose would be out "at least" the next two weeks because of his ankle injury. Rose rolled the ankle on October 20 when he landed awkwardly following a flagrant foul from then-Milwaukee Bucks big man Greg Monroe.

Cleveland put Rose in a walking boot last week in hopes of alleviating pressure on his left foot.

"Just a jacked-up ankle," Rose told ESPN at the time. "I'm just trying to figure it out, bro. Right now, it's just a jacked-up ankle. Just sore. I'm getting a lot of treatment for it, and tonight will be my first time wearing a boot. So I'll wear this, for I don't know how long, to see how it helps."

Rose is averaging 14.3 points on 47 percent shooting (23.1 percent from 3), 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists this season. He signed a veteran's minimum contract with the Cavs in the offseason.

Just because a guy is frustrated by his constant injuries doesn't make him a clown. I feel bad for the guy, and it would frustrate any one of us if you couldn't stay healthy no matter what you did.

Some quotes from the espn article.
Rose has been non-communicative to multiple people close to him inside and outside of the Cavaliers in recent days, league sources said.

Actually, he is. Dude was never about the game. It was about getting paid.

Being in a contract year, I had hoped we were getting the best basketball version of him while he was here but I was obviously wrong.

If he really is suffering from mental illness then shame on anyone for calling him a clown.

Hope he is okay.

I don’t know rose but it appears the love of the game left a long time ago.
Dealing with injury after injury has to suck the love out from any player.
he should walk away. Walking from 80mil is tough especially when you think it’s already “yours”.
A young man perhaps not fully rounded and MVP by age 22 has some entitlement issues and that is not a healthy thing.

Karma is a bitch.

I have always criticized him for his tunnel vision and style of play, but he had soldiered through more than his fair share of injuries. I feel sorry for him, kinda like I felt sorry for Amare, he is still at an age where he should be able to have a successful career. So he has every right to be frustrated - but hoping he is not going awol like last year.
GustavBahler @ 11/25/2017 11:22 AM
Knew I didn't want Rose on the Knicks when he was in street clothes, while a couple of his Bulls teammates were in the hospital from playing their asses off, to pick up the slack from Rose's abscence.

Had to show his teammates that he could dunk during warmups as well. This is also while he's talking about getting his next big contract. Same kind of teammate who would go AWOL on his team.

Just glad we got Kanter after Lopez was traded for him. Hope the Knicks aren't dumb enough to make the same mistake twice, and trade another quality center.

nykshaknbake @ 11/25/2017 12:02 PM
Good thing we didn't sign this guy...i was afraid he was gonna get 20 per for aceing the exit interview. It's easy to step away when u r making the vet minimum. He would have stayed with us, selfish attitude and all.

Something is definately going on with him. I don't think that needs to be reported for anyone to assume that. He's playing for a job right about now. You could see that when he played with us. he doesn't really have a huge interest in playing good basketball. He's still chasing that mvp year. Hell never get there. He doesn't want to change his game and doesn't know how. His family is his crutch. He might need to retire, but he had alot of money left on the table in the NBA and adidas

smackeddog @ 11/25/2017 1:51 PM
For me he's right up there with Bargnani in terms of my most disliked Knick players- their miserable expressions drained my will to live.
Knixkik @ 11/25/2017 1:59 PM
Rose clearly is building a rep for his ghosting, even if the situation is different. He may be depressed living outside of Chicago, which is very unfortunate. Either way, it's clear he has checked out and that was pretty clear last year too. The only thing keeping him playing is the money situation.
