Knicks · GameThread: KP and Enes must step up today (vs Lakers) (page 1)

The Los Angeles Lakers rank No. 1 in the NBA in points in the paint per game at 54.5. It’s only fitting that, on the other end of the floor, the New York Knicks rank No. 2 in the Association in points allowed in the paint per contest at 39.5.

With the best interior scoring team in the NBA going up against the second-best interior defense in the Association, something has to give.

If the Knicks are the second best interior defense.... then somebody needs some high praise... kudos at least. You don't rank #2 just because if shot blocking. Nice team effort....

Now if we could only stop guys from getting wide open looks at the 3 point line

From what I’ve been able to observe the Knicks respond so aggressively to stopping penetration that team’s abuse them with kick outs for 3’s. Also guys like Kanter, KP, KOQ and Beasley don’t move quickly enough to get out to 3pt shooters. IMO they are the usual culprits when it comes to missed rotations.

The thing is Jeff goes with more mobile units at the end of games which tends to result in better defense.

Thomas does it all the time. He's way more concerned with the paint even when guys are already there handling it.

You are right on the somebody needs high praise piece.

THANK YOU MELO!!!!

I believe we were similarly situated with KP and Robin Lopez. Melo factors in no doubt.

In hindsight. Lakers should have kept Russell traded down and drafted Frank probably would have even been able to unload Deng's contract in the process. And found another way to land Kuzma if not being able to land a 2nd late first off trading down.

Russell, Frank, Clarkson, Kuzma, Ingram would have offered a lot of flexibility for Walton.
