Knicks · Kristaps Porzingis: Celtics won’t fool me again (page 1)

Tonight at Garden 8pm

This is one game Kristaps Porzingis desperately doesn’t want to miss — not after the way he performed the first time the Knicks faced the Celtics.

One thing that really gives me hope about this team, these young players and this coach is how hard they play after a bad loss or a team embarrasses them. This squad is young, new to each other and learning to be consistent and what that takes. Its a maturation thing and it doesnt happen over night (unless Briggs is watching you, then it does). This crew has heart and guts and wants to win and doesnt like being shown up.

I dont think we have the firepower to hang with Boston but a max effort should make this a good game. Fingers crossed

Our defensive energy will be needed to off set the firepower. And how KP handles double teams will be key. I saw one time KP saw the double coming, and just turned the other way for a short jumper.....I think he needs to do this more often. At 7'3 he can clearly see over everybody and regardless how many doubles he see, if he can see the basket, that might be a better shot than kicking it out. But that balance of passing or shooting over two people will be key.

agree and KP's learning to balance that is part of his maturation process.

Imagine when:
KP knows when best to pass or shoot over double teams
KP knows when best to NOT dive after loose balls (elimination games only please) and save that energy for other things
KP's banker is more polished

We have Ntilikina playing the whole 4th qtr and engineering big comebacks playing D and hitting big shots. We have KP leading us to a dominating home record and playing like a franchise player and he's 22 and Frank's 19 and half the other guys are 25 and the coach is doing what he wants and they are just STARTING to get it, and guys are shooting career high #s getting good and simple looks. There is so much upside to what is happening here I am just enjoying the process. There will be ups and downs. This is fun

Boston have lost two in a row, I think, so they'll be pretty determined to get the win- not sure I fancy our chances!
knicks1248 @ 12/21/2017 2:27 PM
right before he got hurt, he had 4ast on 4 straight possession out of a double team, so it looks like he's learning. The thing boston does so well against kp is the double team, they come extremely quick.

This is actually the right time to face them. If the Knicks play tough and make the C's earn everything they will not be as confident as they were when they were just steamrolling teams. That's how losing streaks happen for good teams.

Wish KP hadn't said that, its just bulletin board material for the other team. Glad he's back though, will give the team a lift. Hope to see Frank build on his progress. Would be great to see that crossover he showed more often.

That's not bulletin board material. I am glad the other players are hitting their shots with no hesitation. That means it's going to free up KP very soon.
