Hard to teach that
Yeah man I love his hustle and awareness. He's going to make some mistakes but I prefer they let him play thru them cuz he's only going to get better. I still see a PG version of Kawhi as he physically develops and improves his skills.

Would like to see him playing practice games in the offseason where he ONLY looks for his own shot. When he does seem to be looking for his shot off the dribble, I'm thinking that he's thinking "coach wants me to look for my own shot more," and not that he WANTS to look for his own shot.
A matter of time and experience, but he has to take that mental step, too. The added strength will also help him, of course.

The whole point of signing THJ was to have that scorer. I think what they need most is an athletic SF that has size, athletic ability and defense. From a TEAM perspective we need some Low Usage team players that can function with or without the ball. A SF that can finish on the break, put it on the floor as well as hit from 3!!!

No, THJ is not the guy who is taking you to any promised land. You cant compare him to I Thomas--not comparable--Ive watched this team enough. We tend to have good 5 man play every game. We have stable yet underwhelming PG play. We have steady 2g play and a PF who really needs to shoot less and focus on the all around game more. When you put a ball in a super stars hand--the whole dynamics change. Just think of this team together and add I Thomas--thats what Im saying--remove Jarret Jack and add I Thomas.

The word defensive liability is so stupid. I guess anyone playing James Harden or Steph Curry is a defensive liability than> We will not compete with the Toronto and Celtics for the next 2-3 years as is--or add one rookie. Even with an overwhelming amount of home games we are under .5 yeah lets sign Jarret Jack for another 4 years hell hold the fort down!

I think Briggs might have missed my point a little bit. THJ is closer to KP's timeline and he doesn't have to be exactly like IT. THJ fits the path that this team is on. We're going to be adding more young studs going forward and hopefully moving out some of the older guys.
nixluva wrote:nykshaknbake wrote:If you didn't watch any games and ran by how people assess players we will be contending for a championship next year. We have a superstar in KP who does things no other player can. Our rookie OF on the 2nd unit is gaining ground each and every game and I'd going to be top 8, a superstar. Ends Kanter is worth the 20 million he earns. Beasley is better than all the above. THj is also a good SG worth his contract. Baker plays great and has elite defense and playmaking. No way he doesn't opt out right? Nitty is fine for now but some of u guys are crazy.
WTF are you rambling on about? Why exaggerate to try and make your point? Thing is we have some talented young players to look forward to and the display of defense by Nitty just underscores how great that will be for this team going forward. There will be more young talent added this summer and more development as well. What do we have to complain about really???
No way you can accuse anyone of exaggerating. There are major concerns with the team going forward. Have you noticed kp taking worse shots, being inefficient and still not passing or rebounding? We have a real conundrum with Kanter. Don't sign him, will we be a lot worse and will that make KP mad and possibly go? Thj is an average sg, lee is probably just as good right now. Frank will need some time but even then he's not the superstar you project. And no, I'm not talking scoring so put that strawman to rest. You cant penetrate or beeak down a D = old jose calderon.
Too old, to small, game will fade with this age.

Your exaggerating the concerns. Yes there are serious decisions to be made and more player development is needed but there’s more positive going on than you’re presenting. KP is 22 and Frank is 19 and already they’re showing a lot of good things together for the future. They’re REALLY good together and will only get better.
There will be opportunities to improve the roster. Trades and the draft of course but more important is that the core is young and still has PLENTY of upside.

I think I have seen 6 5" frank dunk maybe once since the knicks drafted him. I don't know why some of you think this kid is going to turn into some speed coast to coast player, who will be able to finish at the rim. At best he will be a 3-D pg.
He made two 3 points yesterday, on his second one, he was open for about 5 seconds still looking to pass, and finally shot it. When shooting is a 3rd or 4th option for a player, it's hard to believe that your going to change him into a 1st or 2nd option shooter.
Frank is a traditional PG in a league full of Combo pg

If all you get from Kwahi type player is a speedy coast to coast dunker then there isn't much to discuss here.
Frank dropped 7pts 7rebs 5ast 1stls and I believe 2 blks yesterday. Was one of the main reasons we built our lead. But regardless of these stats you saw him chase off and rotate stopping 2 players from getting a shots off in one sequence on multiple occasions. He is capable of contributing toward a game in multiple ways. He never needs to be an great scorer if he is capable of doing this. Just needs to be a efficient one. Doesn't mean he is expected to be a 8 pts scorer. But getting in the 15pt range efficiently while providing all the different skills he possesses would make him one of the better all around PGs in the NBA.
Getting some ball moving forwards and bigs would compliment Frank and KPs games. Letting them focus on being dominant defensively while helping them find good looks. Basketball is basketball all the playmaking doesn't HAVE to come from the PG position.
knicks1248 wrote:His defense has never went into question, and I'm certainly not comparing him to kawhi. Im willing to accept Frank for they type of player he is, and bring in another pg that does the things he doesnt
Frank is the second youngest player in the league, to suggest that THIS will be the player he will become is nothing short of incredibly naive
knicks1248 wrote:His defense has never went into question, and I'm certainly not comparing him to kawhi. Im willing to accept Frank for they type of player he is, and bring in another pg that does the things he doesnt
When people bring up Kwahi they are talking about an elite defensive player who gets buckets efficiently in the flow of a game. That is all that is meant by that comparison. Not necessarily the MVP calibre stuff. He became known for that when he won finals MVP by playing great defense in LeBron during clutch moments making him work for everything while also dropping 18pts per game without being a go to scorer on ridiculous efficiency.
It was a bad idea with Iverson, why would it be better with IT? This guy is great, no doubt, but he is two years now at this elite level?
Make a movie of him, buy his sneakers, eat what he eats......but $25mil? Works for a year or two, but this guy at age 33-34?
Lets see if Lebron bolts. If not, Isiah might stay?
