I think we need him for pace and scoring
The scoring will probably never happen. He's the type that needs to learn to do more with less. He can get his shot, but their usually contested shots because of his size and lack of athleticism. He needs to become more pass first to get minutes with the big club. Can he do it? Maybe. But it doesn't look he's been working on those things in Westchester.

He shoots the three now. And he does it efficiently. I've seen him play for Westchester and while his defense isn't that good (because of his size) he plays really hard on that end. You could actually pair him up with Frank if you wanted to. They would complement each other very well.
Also imagine a lineup of Burke, Frank, Hardaway, Beasley and KP. That would be a potent offensive lineup with tons of 3 point shooting ability. KP would get much easier looks too.
He Can't finish at the nba level?... the guy averaged double figures multiple sessions in the nba. His shooting percentage was bad in Utah but he did get better in Washington. He should still be in the nba. He might have had entitlement issues... the same ones Willy hermangomez has. As a 25 year old with his career in the balance he might have matured. Clearly his boy THJr put in a good word for him. This is his last chance and he's excelling. We have Franky... but why can't we have a Barea/patty mills off the bench?

Show and prove...He might of have changed a lot of things, but he never did it on the NBA level. Plenty of scrubs of have averaged double figures. Heck, Ramon Sessions did it for his career. I hope he can provide NBA level shotmaking. He better start do it doing now.

Against G-leaguers to boot. Cue the matador music...
But the logic in me knows he is a fringe NBA player.

Hey, did we ever think we would get this kind of production from Bease, and sessions is basically an expensive cheer leader. Were kind of desperate for some penetration and scoring from the pg position. I just hope they don't give him no stupid contract.

You never know. It's not like him playing 15 minutes in a few games is going to hurt our development in any way.

Beas has been Beas which is inconsistent. He has sworn a new found responsibility to his 5 kids and seems like a good dude.
Its Sleepy Beas that that is the problem.
Sessions has had a good career and has been a good bench guy adding to the culture. Does he need more minutes? Jack played great which took him to the bench.
Baker has been a disappointment this season and has thrown our rotation. He earned his contract last year and almost looks like he put on too much muscle.
As for "What the hell.....why not try it..." Well knicks are signing him and I defer to them before myself and anyone other fan.
I saw Burke play this season and like a lot of Gleague players its hard to see what they got because the level of ball is not always fluid.
These Gleague guys look like they are a mess at times.

Well he is... he's killing the g league. If they do call him up on a 10 day he'll get his opportunity.

He's killing the what? lol To make matters worse, he's like several years older than some of the dudes he's abusing. I get that he's puting in the work. But I'm not sure it's the work he needs to focus on. Those shots he's putting up in the G-League likely aren't shots he'll get off at a high % in the NBA. Burke is different from a guy like Len because we already have baseline for Burke can do and what he needed to work on. I hope he proves me wrong.

If he wasn't killing the g league we wouldn't be taking about him. I keep repeating the same thing, were not expecting Burke to be Iverson. We just need to find a spark. Guy can hit shots. The Knicks offense will get him shots he's comfortable taking. If he does that then he's a keeper anything less we drop him. Anything more and we came up

You realize of course he signed a $70 Million 4 year desk w Atlanta. Sure you wanna blow it all with Bazemore. ???

I think Perry signs him so that we don't lose him to some other team for nothing.

Maybe... since he does make alot there's not many realistic trades to be made for him... that's why I said maybe.... since Atlanta just pout him on the market

Seems like a perfect fit for Horny's system. And with Franks wing span, he could play 3 positions in this system. So there's plenty of room for Burke to come in and shine. If Horny plays Hardaway and Lee at the 3....Then I can see him playing 3 guards and 2 forwards, with Burke taking some minutes from Jack (eventhough Jack has been balling). Burke is younger and could be a solid backup, once Jack plays out his contract.
Hornacek has shown that he's willing to give players the fast hook if their D is lacking. Listening to Burke talk about wanting to show what he can do. Lets hope thats enough incentive for Burke to play some respectable D. So he can stay on the court and prove he deserves to be there.

Effort sounds like a problem, but size and athleticism seemed to be the biggest issues with Burke's D. Even when he did dig into guys, they could just shoot over him.
BigDaddyG wrote:but honestly thats good D from him. If he's keeping guys in front of him and contesting shots you take that and run. Its when they are getting beat off the dribble and either taking it to the basket or creating easy looks by breaking down the D. I will take contested jumpers every day and 2x on Tues. Every coach will.GustavBahler wrote:blkexec wrote:I just read a recent article and I forgot Hardaway and Burke led Michigan to the National Championship. Agree about Jeff and I love it. Its the new culture and I pray its hear to stay. There is no faster path to improve than a commitment to defense. Its much easier said than done and takes more than just a coach who says go play D
