I think KP's offseason checklist should be...
1. Strength Training
2. Stamina Training
3. Hook shot
4. Posting and dribbling with back to basket until 4 ft away from rim
5. Passing quickly and accurately on double teams
6. Spot up shooting from anywhere on the floor without dribbling (He turns it over due to steals from defender/help defender. I think there's too much air space between A. his palms and the floor. B. his palms with arm down and apex of his shot....there's too much opportunity for the ball to be poked away etc by the defender while he tries to raise for a shot)
7. When a defender bodies him up one-on-one, ability to simply jump up and shoot without having shot affected (related to #1)
8. Watching film to get a nose for rebounding like Kanter (related to #1 and #2)

What KP needs the most is an inside game. He needs to learn footwork when someone is on him that is smaller than him, KP needs to use footwork to attack the basket. A hook shot would be nice. Lessons with Jabbar and Hakeem and KP would be a superstar.

Im glad Hornacek is giving KP/Kanter PT in the 4th. Haven't really given that time to work late in games.

4th in the East with great D, lots of options on offense.

KPs number one problem in my opinion is his body
He either doesn't eat enough or well enough or focus enough on his fitness
First half he was a beast
Second half from the get go he looked worn out

I think he will never admit it but his brother and his team need to set him a plan on diet, power training, endurance that not only lasts a summer but an entire year. Think Phil always said 23-24 is when he will come around to be where they think he should.

Because he gets wacked, pushed around and it just isn't working for him the current offseason and in season fitness plan he has. He needs more strength and endurance ... the shot making and skills are the easier things for him to add.

This year 1 of his learning process as the man.
Totally different attention is paid to him now on a nightly basis.
He has to get better but he never would unless he played the role he is now.

What I'm happy about is we are heading for a tank real soon.
Perry needs to be a seller come trade deadline.

Only keep assets that can still improve on the way up.

Willy
KP
McDermott
THj
Frank

I'd keep OQuinn because he's shown he will improve each year with the team.

Time for Kanter, Thomas, Lee to get us some longterm value back.

should of traded him while we had the chance
SocraticBallin22 @ 1/12/2018 10:11 PM
Jack and LT playing starter minutes.

Frank playing less minutes; Willy playing 0 minutes.

I'm okay with losing, just not with vets.

These kids need to play in order to learn and grow. That's what a rebuild is supposed to be.

a distant 4th.

FWIW I think Jeff blew this game when he went to the OQuinn KP Beasley lineup to start the fourth.
They had no idea how to play on either end and it looked like they never had even practiced together

Beasley IMO has been more bad for this team than good.
He makes great plays but he takes away from the style that was making them competitive early in the season

THJ is the real guy who makes the right difference
But with limited minutes ... he couldn't close.

I disagree. Frank has been making it hard for the team to be competitive when he has been on the court recently. Willy has not earned minutes. Do you want the coach to emphasize defense and effort and earning minutes? Dotson is playing for the W's tonight.

SHUT UP

oops, im sorry, can't handle the truth, or are you part of MSG Brass that suggest you shouldn't say anything negative about the team, or maybe your your just elated with our pg situation.

The Non athletic, mid range shooting, never getting to the line, cant shoot 3's, can't defend the 3, can't create off the dribble, can't run..Shht is embarrassing at times.

Their defense could be a game changer. I could see them upsetting all of them, save the Warriors, if
their defense is on par with a Thibodeau playoff team. Butler gives them some much needed experience someone Thibodeau can count on because they've been through those battles together.

The irony is the smarter coaches and more modern NBA guys
They take KP out of the post and make him a 3 point shooter that takes 8-10 three pointers a game and also a roll guy. Basically eliminate most of his midrange game.

KP is playing a game that is dying in the NBA. He's playing the same old NBA "the man" game which is tons of shots in the midrange and low post.

On most contenders KP is a 5/4 hybrid whom launches 15 shots a game more than half being three pointers. He'd get 20/8/2 easy that way.

However for us we are trying to evolve him into a franchise guy and the type of game we are asking him to play is one of the toughest to do in today's NBA.

All I know is that we've been losing a lot recently and losing with our vets playing heavy minutes. My point is if we're going to lose anyway, we might as well play and develop Frank/Willy/Dotson (the future of this team) rather than playing vets like Jack and LT who are not in our long term plans. These kids need to develop.
