They have more information from the outside USA, they see how students live in normal countries without guns. Less than a half of adults have been outside of USA, so they think it is normal how they live.
I doubt it.
Kids aren't yet influenced by $$$ and aren't as misinformed by read/watch on TV because their sources of info aren't locked in and bad info isn't as ingrained.
Kids are more innocent and are not aware yet that every change brings good results and bad consequences.
Sometimes consequences can be worth that good results.
By getting this negative experience adults are less supportive to any change, especially radical.
Arkud but do you know what type of guns were available when the constitution was made?
Gudris wrote:Arkud but do you know what type of guns were available when the constitution was made?
Guns that killed as good as new modern stuff.
Seriously zo the constitutional right is very generic.
It is easy to make laws which comply with it but make owning guns very hard and inconvenient.
This should be the focus. Using human nature to better the society.
Also this this is a good explanation about misconceptions many have about AR-15:
Gun makers did something very clever when they created guns like the AR-15 (which, by the way is not one type of gun, but a whole bunch of different types of the same general weapon). They created a weapon that is functionally not much different from a standard hunting rifle, but appears to be the same as a gun like the M-4, which is a military-style fully automatic weapon. The important difference is that the M-4 is a true assault weapon — it can be used as both a semi-automatic and automatic weapon. The AR is not an automatic weapon nor is it properly classified as an “assault rifle.” It’s just a cool-looking hunting rifle.

Countries are piece of land and cannot be stupid or smart.
People can be but they are all different.
But in one thing they are similar - they all try to find excuses for their actions and non-actions.
And pointing to the country or culture is 2 most used excuses.
So instead of doing something about the issue we will continue to point fingers to find "Who is to blame" instead of figuring out "What to Do".

there is nothing to do except hope more non-whites continue to have children. these gun/killing laws were created by and upheld by old white men. until law makers stop being white men nothing really will change. that may take generations though.
side question, why is it legal to sell guns but not legal to sell cocaine?

Do you think Asians and Latinos who will be a majority in the country in 20-30 years and will be elected to be law makers are less in love with the guns?
I agree with cocaine - should be legal. Will not help to eliminate whites zo as they prefer painkillers...

i do believe non-whites will be way more anti-gun than whites and the laws will reflect it. but may not be in my lifetime.
and this is not an "eliminate whites" racist post. demographics in this country are naturally changing as there is more race mixing and more immigrants. (and a big reason why trump won using identity politics). that's just how things are going. and my stance is that as the demographics change we will see laws change as more law makers will become more representative of the country.

It is impossible to track illegal fire arms so your statistics are flawed unless you are trying to make the point that white people are purchasing their firearms legally. Illegal fire arms are easily obtained through theft and trade among criminals. Do you have demographics for who is commiting and being caught for commiting these crimes? I pulled up one statistic that says criminals are likely to have atleast 3 illegally obtained firearms

So "whites" are some specific cultural group originated in US South at the time of Civil War and in your opinion still dominating the US national elites.
Not a racial group but rather socio-political... Make sense. Same is true about African Americans. They are not a racial group but rather cultural same a "whites".
That's why 19-20-21 century immigrants of all races including Africans are not really concerned about this "whites" - "Afro-American" context.
Guns is another example of sub-culture which is unique to US. But population base for guns advocates is much wider that just defined by you "whites".
This is large chunk of population who are against central government control over their life in general.
That why they came to America in first place as immigrants.
This ideas are important for immigrants of all generations.
And those who came from Asia and Latin America are very much into guns and self defense not necessary by firearms but by any means.
So it is much more complicated that you think.
Why in the USA where everybody has ''protection'' guns, homicide level is much higher than in countries with no guns?

Does the article mention anything about bump stocks? 100 round clips? Which btw, makes all AR15 class rifles nothing like a "standard hunting riffle"

This are the thing that need to be addressed in the law as its new stuff came after the law was established.
I think it is not too complicated to amend the language with "Any tools or enchantments which increasing the frequency, capacity, and accuracy of the legal guns are not allowed".
We need to work on amendments which are passable quickly not wage some generic cultural wars.

Its more than a "White" issue. We make up 5% of the worlds population yet own 42% of all privately owned fire arms. We have more guns per 100 than Yemen.
Its a US addiction. Seems like most prefer not being told what to do. In spite of the fact it might lead to someone being killed. Only thing that seems to change peoples stance is when it affects someone they care about.
Like any addiction, admitting you habe a problem is the first and hardest step.

USA is on 94th place in murder rates (per 100,000 inhabitants) out of 219.
In the middle of the pack being 4.88.
For comparison Russia has 11.31 and is on 38 place.
Russian gun related murder rate is small comparing to US.
But what is the diff if one killed by gun, knife, hummer, or by hands.
