“The finish was athletic,” Williams said. “But I want to use my athleticism to defend and hustle. It’s part of what I’m supposed to do in my role.”“He’s very good in transition, a developing player with potential to be a good defender,’’ one NBA scout attending the game said. “But athleticism is his deal.”
Would like him to eventually take all of Lance mins by outplaying him. Then come April with steady mins have a strong month that he can take that increased confidence into the off season.
This kid is an example of the change in philosophy from Phil to Perry! Perry is looking to add athleticism, driving and finishing ability this team lacks. No doubt Perry watched The Knicks get run out of the building by teams with much more athletic talent!!!
Yes but whether Burke or Williams they are gonna have to play D to earn their minutes.
He looked great tonight. Tremendous athleticism and he plays d.

Someone gotta tell him to watch for his guy cutting backdoor
Love Williams...He's very active offensively and defensively.....Plays above the rim and can finish....Gets out on the break....I like him better than Beasly mosing forward for the simple fact that if Beas aint scoring, he's not doing much else for us. Williams definitely needs to be the 1st Sf off the bench....

Yeah, I saw that...it happens to the best of them...He owned up to it on the court right after it happened.

Beasley is a power fwd. He's still a good player. We need more good players not swapping out one player for another. Troy is clearly an athletic slasher, Beas is an athletic post guy. There's more than enough room for both. If there's a bum that should never play again it's Lance Thomas
YOu bring in guys like Troy BECAUSE you have guys like Lance on the team.
Development is about mix.
Troy does not have to out play him to get minutes, he has to play well!

Semantics,
Lance is the gate keeper, outperforming Lance would be the first step in Williams showing he is a long term rotational piece. Then the step after that would be battling Lee for the starting SF job.
That is development.

Hoping for a small forward in the draft(Knox, Bridges).
I keep missing his quick blocks or highlight Dr layups. Is there a troy Williams mix as a knick?
