Be interested in seeing what teams need, how the draft order affects their decision making.

I guess the best we got from the BBall Gods was not smiting us with the 16th pick.

Luck helps....

Perry had a "We're boned" expression on his face.

7 or 6 i think

BigDaddyG @ 5/15/2018 8:43 PM
I didn't want Luka or Ayton anyway. They're legs are too stiff when they run and Euro league is overrated. Bagley doesn't even block shots and Porter is one bad fall away from going Prof. Xavier on us. Bamba is the next Dasagne Diop. Eff em. I always thought we should draft one of the Bidges anyway.
nixluva @ 5/15/2018 8:47 PM
I think a team ahead of us is gonna fall in love with Collin Sexton which will shake up the draft order. Something like that happens every year and he’s a kid I can see impressing in workouts and moving up!

An element of current production vs NBA projection skews the top of this draft. I wasn't in love with the top of this draft either, and think that the best pieces may fall in the mid lottery. The likelihood is that we end up with Mikal, and from a team identity standpoint with Frank, the sum may be well greater than the parts.

meloshouldgo @ 5/15/2018 9:11 PM
Another year, we failed to play the odds with any degree of competence and came back with a low draft pick.
And at one time we were tied with Sacramento and threw all that away by winning meaningless games.

Im hoping, not knowing what teams ahead of us need. That this draft order (or some draft night trade) will work to our favor somehow.

A team not wanting the BPA because they're set a certain position, and one of those players falling to us.

Best believe there will be at least 2 very good players available at 9, and a quite a few bad ones, do you trust perry and mills to make te right pick or trade

I have very little insight into their thinking. I would be happy with Mikal Bridges.

To me this is why I can't be on board with the pro-tank crowd. I'm sure there's at least a couple of franchise players in this draft because on average that's how every draft pans out. But is there anyone in this draft who is clearly "that guy?" I think the Knicks are as likely to have a shot at an impact player at nine as they would be in the top three in THIS draft. I don't think anybody comes across as a can't miss game changer.

In my opinion Doncic is at a different level. He has the potential to be that guy and was worth tanking for.

What makes it more upsetting for me is that the same coach who the team was playing hard for at the end of the season, ended up being canned.

Hornacek should have been playing the guys off the bench big minutes much sooner than he did...Frank and Dotson should have been getting 30 MPG as soon as we were eliminated.

After the trade deadline, when we didn't need to build up anyone's trade value, we should have been playing all of our younger/inexperienced players major minutes.

In Horny's favor...he did sit Lee and Kanter down a lot at the end of the season, but it should have started earlier.

It's just amazing how much better other teams are at tanking than we are...we are lucky that we stayed at 9.

LivingLegend @ 5/15/2018 9:46 PM
Aside from not moving up I thought this was as good an outcome as we could hope for.

- did not fall to 10-12
- Celtics did not get top 2-5 Laker pick
- Sixers get #10 (I can live with that)
- Bulls drop (I like that)
- Suns, Sactown, Hawks are all meh teams
-Cavs weren’t Gift3d another top 3 pick

LivingLegend @ 5/15/2018 9:47 PM
I think Sexton will be our pick at #9.

Tend to think he is the most electric talent that will be on the board (if we are lucky)

Hoping he falls to us....think there is something special inside him and fantastic end..end attacking player

I won’t bitch about Mikal but if we take him I believe we will pass on 3-5 other players with more long term upside. We need to draft for talent...lot of these kids are 2 years younger than Mikal.
