I wouldnt mind if we picked Young, Sexton, an Alpha PG. Not sure how serious Fizdale is about Mudiay as part of the future. KP needs teammates who can keep him from being doubled and tripled too often. Starts at PG.
I'm intrigued at his potential, but makes no sense to trade up.
I stay at 9 and hope we add a piece that can contribute to our eventual success. If that is young, a Bridges, a Porter- we need a difference maker, and preferably a two way player who can play close to a full season.

thats not how you build a team imo. id rather draft a player that fits, not because we may or may not have a pg on the roster who is "better." what qualifies as "better" anyway? i have no interest in trae young, he's a chucker, plays no defense and is RECKLESS with the ball offensively. but yeah, if he shoots enough he'll score 40. yipee.

I didnt say they were a fluke. Those record #s were a result of volume, nothing more. The shots he took to get those #s are not NBA shots. I would puke if my rookie PG thought running up the floor and shooting contested 3s from 5 feet behind the line was a good play. Trae does it 3-4 times a game.
If the Knicks draft him I would root and hope he pans out. That's me as a fan. Hey... they have him in for a private workout. Maybe he shows things we have no seen. The physical shortcomings alone are daunting. You need a 1 and done rookie from a mediocre team to play like the best shooter in the history of the game to justify taking him. Boy those are really long odds when there are other very good players on the board.

Young didnt have much to work with, and his coach gave him the green light. He was often carrying the team. Looks like teams figured out that stopping Young was job 1.
His takes to the rim, his ability to make quick decisions, cant be attributed to volume, the kid has skills. Again, Curry coming out of college, looked like he was 14 years old, lol.
We still dont know who would be available at 9 along with Young if he was still there. Like you said, might impress in workouts, wouldnt dismiss the pick out of hand.

Considering he played on a team with zero talent, he was triple teamed for most of the second half of the season. Again no talent around him and triple teamed. In the NBA that won’t happen, and don’t forget Steph Curry is only 6’2” and was about 180 when he came out of college. Young also has the best court vision in the draft, he makes his team better, I can’t imagine what he can do with real talent around him.
Considering frank is a combo 2 guard as well as Mudiay drafting young isn’t a bad idea

It's like some of you don't seem to understand that the way Young played in college won't be the way he's gonna play in the NBA. He's not gonna have to be a chucker and feel like he's the only offense on his team in the NBA like he did in college. He's gonna get put in a system and will play to that system. I'm not sure how anyone that pays attention to the game doesn't know this.
Im on the fence with this kid. Curry went 7th and was obviously not universally seen as what was to become.
At the same time its pretty evident that there is a chemistry with Thompson that makes 1+1=3 between them!
Obviously even GSW did not see that draft day but it happened!
My take is if he becomes a knick I hope its because they see something special and perhaps a skill set that creates chemistry. I don't see it because I don't have that advanced knowledge.
We need to be focused on building a TEAM. I think the move is to take long athletic wing or big man that can play next to KP (one of the Bridges, Carter, or Porter). I may be in the minority, but I think between Trey, Frank, and Mudiay, we're set at PG for another year - let's see how they play out. Personally, I think Trey can become the guy next to Frank and THJ.
