I would definitely trade the pick

Then I would start waiting outside Kemba Walker's house RIGHT NOW

I feel like that would be what Amar'e/Melo should have been: a great PG distributing to the high or low post, depending on what the defense gives

agreed no need to add KP

We have a lot of young talent plus a unprotected number one.

The Pels might want to dump salary to be players in free agency, so Kanter and Mudiay plus unprotected first works too... but lots of different trades will work Kanter is a center piece to match salary. Kanter, Frank and Mitch and the number one pick works too.

That's way too much! We're in the driver's seat. We don't have to give all of that away

I like your take... I would add that I think our opening offer should be Kanter + our first + any necessary salary filler. That's it. See where the conversation leads. It's not like our pick is the typical 8th overall selection this year

KP, AD, Zion, Hardaway and Ntlikina. Would win some games. Or we can complete deplete the roster.

AD is "NOT" making it to free agency...

Why wouldn’t he make it to FA. He already said he isn’t signing. He will make it FA. No one is going to want to rent him as he is probably going to leave for Lakers.

He is not. No one is putting up significant chips to rent unless taking a real gamble. Teams are looking to buy not rent for a player like AD. It would be smart on his part to get traded to a spot he wants so that he can keep his bird rights at least. He is not getting a super max, but that 5th yr would make up some $$$.
ramtour420 @ 1/28/2019 3:22 PM
If KP keeps on the same trajectory then they will be almost the same player. If we look at their respective 3rd years in the league AD is not good from behind the arc but gets almost double the amount of rebounds and since his game is closer to the hoop his shooting % is better. KP is a threat from downtown so he gets less boards. Oh and AD went to the line a bit more. Maybe advanced statistics would paint a somewhat different picture. AD is 3 years older, we would be in total win now mode with him, no time to develop anyone.

But they will need more.
I sort of send a back channel Russian to ask KD what he thought of it.
Or Kyrie. Just saying.
KP, Knox and hardaway for Davis and Holiday.
Im biased, If Frank is not that valuable via trade as implicated by those who don't really know, then I'd just as soon keep him. That's three starters for two.
but I have to know I got cap space for a Free agent and its either Kyrie or Durant.
KP and our first rounder? That's tough cuz if its Zion and he trans ends either Davis or KP then we gonna look stupid.
I can handle the losing. I can handle looking stupid. I can't handle both.

pfff very very stupid... if you trade KP is not brig Knicks to championship.

Trade that pick completely unprotected and whatever else it takes minus KP. Reactive Porzingis and go 20-10 to end the year and turn that potential first pick to a late teen and get the 8th seed in the playoffs.

Not need to rush. This season is already over!
ramtour420 @ 1/28/2019 5:20 PM
Would we have his bird rights? If yes then I think we got to trade the pick.
arkrud @ 1/28/2019 5:24 PM
Lets look at this from the point of AD.
Why he would want to join Knicks at this point?
He wants to win and preferably win it all.
With Knicks trading KP for him AD will be in the same situation as KP with winning still 2-3 years in the future if all chips will fall.
So what the point. Why not to join LA, Boston, or some other contender (if they will have room) as FA?
If KNicks will keep KP and add AD this may look intriguing but who will be the Man?
Not sure 2 big egos like AD and KP will want to do it together.
Is AD as stupid as Melo and Knicks are as stupid as they were 7 years back with gutting the team for "sure thing"?
I doubt that anything will come up out of this before FA .
nyknickzingis @ 1/28/2019 5:30 PM
Porzingis should not be in any AD offer
We may be a rental
I wouldn’t even offer an unrestricted draft pick.

I would do

Top 3 restriction 2020 pick
Knox
2022 pick restriction top 10
Robinson
Trier
Mudiay
Kanter to give them cap relief

Good offer for us and last resort for them.
If they will get desperate they may call us back.

ESOMKnicks @ 1/28/2019 5:41 PM
I would do KP+Tim+Clee+Lance+2019 first rounder for AD+Jrue. This would give us two proven All Stars while keeping us with enough cap space to sign a star FA like Kawhi or Klay. Most star FAs would jump at a chance to play with AD in the big NY market.

So, we'd have

Starters: Mitchell, AD, Kawhi, Dotson, Jrue
Bench: Kornet, Vonleh, Knox, Trier, Frank

or

Starters: Mitchell, AD, Knox, Klay, Jrue
Bench: Kornet, Vonleh, Dotson, Trier, Frank

Enough to contend for four years with 3 superstars entering their prime and a nice young supporting cast. And good scoring/defense balance. If we can swing this and give up the 2020 pick instead of the 2019 one, even better, then add someone like Zion into the mix, and we'd be downright monstrous.

Allanfan20 @ 1/28/2019 5:49 PM
Trading picks and KP for Davis is assinine. We were not able to build around Melo bc of that. How would we be able to build around Davis? Our remaining players are just gonna magically comlliment Davis because he is AD? Please. Stay away from this trade. He hasn’t even been a major winner in NOLA.
ramtour420 @ 1/28/2019 6:05 PM
AD couldn't win squat with Cousins nor Holiday. Why do we want him again?

EnySpree wrote:AD only makes 24 million... this is not a Melo situation. We don't have to trade KP and the 1st together. We offer the 1st, Timmy, Mitch and Frank and that's it.... we don't have to do anything else. If they don't like that then take the bullshit deal the Lakers are gonna give them.

Our return? We get AD and KP together... we still have Knox.... we still have cap space to sign a point guard, maybe Rubio for instance. Then we start Trier or Dotson at the 2. So, AD, KP, Knox, Rubio and Trier.... that's not worth the ride?

If not we walk away and start the course. I see alot of anxiety here. Chill

That's a good take too. Lakers can offer some mix of players but NONE has the upside that KP has.
Pels like most teams need a bankable star. Thus they might be more drawn to KP as a center piece.
In my dream fantasy I have KP and Hardaway for AD. Naturally AD will resign. Since he stated he won't sign extension he will be traded. Question is does AD approve a NY deal? He wants to go to a contender which neither LA or NY is.
Now if Durant or Kyrie are in play and we get some of that, well there is now a host of possibilities including Trading Knox if need be.
Chips need three stars.
After months of embattlement with Rainman over the validity of Frank I have lost all objectivity to include him in any deal. Teams win championships with players like that. Players that play defense and are unselfish. If his value is as reported not so high, so why trade him??

I agree that it is a good take. I personally think that if the Knicks are somewhat patient, the best offer the Pelicans could get is something like our pick, THJ, and Frank. I don't really see another team beating that. If you want to include another young asset in case of emergency, fine, but I can't see another team topping that offer, especially when our pick could very well be Zion

You cant be serious...The pick is valuable, obviously, THJ and Frank dont have much value at all...The Celtics can put together a much better package than that. They own a top ten pick plus they can trade Jalen Brown who is a much better player/prospect than Frank or THJ

TLover @ 1/28/2019 6:14 PM
My attempt at an Anthony Davis trade without KP.

Our 2019 1st round pick (protected for only #1 overall)
2021 #1 pick (top 5 protected)
Kevin Knox
Frank Ntlinkina
Mitchell Robinson
Tim Hardaway Jr

For

Anthony Davis & fillers

Uptown @ 1/28/2019 6:15 PM
Any trade for AD has to start with KP...In order to appease their fan base, the Pels need a young allstar in return. Unfortunately, KP is injured and there is no telling he will return back to the form he showed for than month when he wa scorching hot last season....With that said, we will have to attach a 1st round pick to KP which I would definitely not do!!

Sounds like Davis wants the Lakers. His agent is Rich Paul, LBJ's friend...looks like a done deal to me...
