Knicks · Can we flip Matthews n Jordan for (page 1)

dwiley20 @ 1/31/2019 8:27 PM
A First rounder
martin @ 1/31/2019 8:38 PM
Probably not
StarksEwing1 @ 1/31/2019 8:42 PM
Nope.
Panos @ 1/31/2019 8:43 PM
Definitely not.
newyorknewyork @ 1/31/2019 8:55 PM
I think that Jordan, Vonleh, Matthews front court is gonna be pretty solid for the remainder of the year.
GoNyGoNyGo @ 1/31/2019 8:57 PM
I like what Mitch can learn from Jordan. They both play above the rim.

I hope not. The tank has to be strong
Allanfan20 @ 1/31/2019 9:12 PM
Would you if you were a potential trading partner? Doubtful.
Sambakick @ 1/31/2019 9:14 PM
Both likely buyout candidates.

March 1 is the deadline for players to join Playoff teams.

One month rentals.

Yup. We will basically be calling up D-League players to fill our roster. If you want to just skip out on the rest of the season and get ready for pitchers or catchers, I won’t hold it against you.

smackeddog @ 2/1/2019 4:06 AM
Nope!

Maybe a second rounder.

franco12 @ 2/1/2019 7:26 AM
we finally got DeAndre Jordan! Took a while, and he is now looking at the downside of his career.

I kinda expect them to be moved- as either dumps elsewhere or a buyout.

I would like to keep both- I mean, we've got no vets now whatsoever. DeAndre could be a great model for Mitch. And Wes could be great for our guards as well.

VCoug @ 2/1/2019 7:50 AM
We'd have to match expiring salaries since we're obviously not renting out our cap space next year.
Cartman718 @ 2/1/2019 8:23 AM
I'd rather we get rid of all 3..DJ Wes DSJr be traded for picks of any sort and we just play the players we have.

The mentoring needs to come from Fiz now that the "malcontent" in KP, THJr, Burke is all gone. What choice do the Fiz kids have...listen to Fiz

IMO we have enough picks and prospects to fall back on now. If we are to make packages then it should be for upgrades and established guys.

If we whiff out on FA. An option could be offering Trier & Knox for Bradley Beal. Or Trier, another asset(Kornet?), and eat Mahinmi's contact(would have one year left) for Beal.

newyorknewyork @ 2/1/2019 9:30 AM
We need Smith and Trier or Dotson to ball out the rest of the season to create a bunch of value.
HofstraBBall @ 2/1/2019 9:54 AM
If there was another NBA organization with the likes of Dolan at the helm, that would be a strong yes. Watching Mavs games this year I can tell you that they are both real bad. No one will want them on a playoff squad. Oh yeah but some will say the they with help the tank. But the tank seems like a ten year plan at this point. Cant believe I fell for the idiots that justified the tank so that we can finally get lucky with KP but only to trade him a few years later. Everyone keeps forgetting tanks only work when you have an organization that know how to use draft picks, can develop them and create a situation where they want to stay. Its like stupidity groundhog day around here. Everyone thinks things will change. Now were also back to the Lebron is coming to NY bullshit everyone did when LBJ was leaving the Cavs and Miami and Cavs. NO ONE wants to come here. No KD, no Irving no Leonard. Go Knicks!
smackeddog @ 2/1/2019 11:38 AM
Remember D Jordan signed a one year contract last offseason, so he doesn't come with bird rights, which knocks his trade value. Also he's declined a lot defensively this year. Maybe the Kings would be interested (they'd have cap space to re-sign him and he might complement Bagely) for Labissiere (who's out of their rotation) and Zach (expiring).
technomaster @ 2/1/2019 11:53 AM
I think Matthews and Jordan are serviceable players - particularly if they can get traded to playoff caliber teams. Any decline seen in those players could be seen as drop off from being part of losing situations.

With that, I think the best trade opportunity would be another team's 2015-2018 first round bust still on a rookie deal.

Think along the lines of: Marquese Chriss, Thon Maker, Dragan Bender, Stanley Johnson, Frank the Tank, Tyus Jones.

We could do with adding a young/cheap PF and a SF too- we're pretty thin at those two positions, especially if we don't retain Vonleh

problem is Mathews salary is $18mil and Jordans is $22mil, so it will be hard finding matching salary (without adding to next season's payroll)

smackeddog @ 2/1/2019 12:05 PM
Remember we have kanter at $18mil too. think we'll end up flipping either his $18mil or Mathews to the Bulls for Parker, to save the bulls $2mil when buying out the contract (Parker is $20mil)
