Question...What happens to the 2023 pick if it falls into the 1-10 spot? Does it go to 2024 Unprotected?

I don't have exact details but I think it stays top 10 protected for a couple of years and then transfers to 2 second round picks?

The report I read mentioned this but on the second round pick, only mentioned one. It does make sense that a first round pick turns into 2 second round picks, though. Still, the article mentioned that most picks like this get picked up before they turn into the second rounder, and being it a 1-10 protection means we will most likely see it become a first rounder for the Knicks.

PG and Kawhi were multi-year established stars, albeit Kawhi hadn't proven himself post-injury.
Everyone in the league knew those players wanted out and their respective previous FO had time to go out and find the best deals.
PG got you a decent starter in Victor and a fifth pick who had not panned out yet. PG was not a lock to resign with OKC as Lakers was a rumored destination.
Kawhi and Green gets you an all star, top 10 pick who has not panned out yet and a top 20 future pick.
I believe there is a rule that picks have to be conveyed within 6 years after a trade which would be why the 2025 pick becomes a second.
In regards to the trade, I really like the package the Knicks got. Both players for Indy blew up after they got there but I don’t think that was expected. Teams don’t. Trade first round picks without protection. Teams also don’t trade two first round picks

If you took a point in time survey at the time each trade was made, Indiana would've received the lowest score and the Spurs the highest. That's obviously not the case now. It's too early to tell where we'll land on this list, but I'm guessing it won't grade as low as some writers graded it initially.

True, but I don't really care about who wins this deal outright. There are too many things at play to ever make that call, at least for the next few years. But I really do want that second first-rounder lo

Absolutely. A big part of the KP trade will be how KP pans out and how NY is able to use the cap space and the additional picks.

or they have a year where they are decimated with injuries. It happens. Wash has a good roster. They are lottery bound. Anything can happen and while Luka and KP look like they could be an epic duo stuff happens which is why unprotected lottery pics are so risky
KP goes down at least one pick protected. Call it the "Isiah/Curry Rule".
Like most deals we won't know the full impact for a few years.

Plus if they are picking 1-10 on 2023-2025 that means that the 2025 2nd round pick is pretty good.
