Knicks · #1 Overall for Anthony Davis? (page 1)

How about we get the pick 1st...
Allanfan20 @ 5/14/2019 4:09 PM
No. This is for basically a 5 year window considering Durant will be entering the twighlite of his career when his next deal is done. Zion will barely at all be entering his prime AND he’ll be a star from year one, most likely. It’s so not worth trading the pick for AD.

Tweet doesn't make sense. A) why would the Knicks inform their rivals what their strategic plan is, and B) why would they open themselves up to potential tampering charges, as AD is under contract. Zero logic to this tweet.

NYKBocker @ 5/14/2019 4:14 PM
If we get Zion they better not trade him or we storm MSG!
GustavBahler @ 5/14/2019 4:19 PM
So all the tanking, losing, was for a player who has missed his share of games over his career, and one year left on his deal? Anything but the first pick. Not this draft.

Two fing max slots, and you cant find players to build a team around Zion? Really hope this story is BS.

There is no way Knicks executives have told rivals that they plan to go after AD if they get the #1 pick. Unless they did so for misdirection hoping teams offer crazy deals for AD themselves. If AD was their target why would they instigate a bidding war?

Yup. If we get the #1 pick then no. #2-#5 then yes. I don't want Mitch going anywhere either.

Not for nothing but it's probably someone on the Pelicans side of things that is saying these things to up the AD cost

Makes to much sense not to be true. Pelicans gain everything off this and Knicks gain nothing. Would actually hurt them.

I agree with both of you. I will say that I don't want to trade picks #2 or #3 either. I think signing two max guys and adding a bluechipper is greater than AD. He's a beast, no doubt, but I think he gets too much credit. WTF has NOLA done with him? I think Zion is the most intriguing, Ja isn't too far behind, and RJ looks the part more than either. I love Hunter and Mitch but not enough to pass on AD. But if it's something like Mitch, RJ, and DSJ for AD, yeah, no thanks

considering that the Knicks shocked the whole world by trading KP, yes, I think they are holding their cards close. That said, it is possible the Knicks are throwing that out there to fuck over the Celtics or whoever else

Nalod @ 5/14/2019 4:44 PM
Or just media to hype views. Really you can have:

Davis
Durant or other top tier FA
Minus:
Mitch,Knox, Frank and Zion? No freaking way.

You can have

Durant
Kyrie
Zion
Mitch
Knox
Frank
and our picks forward........

Its insane to have cleared out cap space. A trade that would have had KP and Hardaway plus our pick not top 2 this year would have made sense. Why trade for cap, then not use it?

A Core of Durant and AD while formidable reminds me of our Amare/Melo depletion. Sure this is on paper a better tandem but the cupboard got empty.

Chandler @ 5/14/2019 5:11 PM
I can imagine the trade for some of the reasons stated (e.g., Durant's age; window to win)

I think the tweet makes no sense though for the reasons stated.

I have very mixed feelings on such a trade though because AD, KD (assuming he does), Mitch and KK have a huge age gap -- your bench will be inexperienced AND we still have mediocre or worse guards and shooting

The logic is one thing. I get that. The math is phucked up if you do the trade.......

In the event that we get number 1 it would be much wiser to keep zion and trade future picks and our youth minus zion and mitch for a veteran on a losing team like jrue holiday or kevin love.
Keeping zion on a rookie deal for years to come is the best asset we would have
How about offering for brad beal? The wizards need a reset badly and it might mean letting go of him.
DSJ, Knox, 2 future firsts + whatever else minus mitch and zion

Kyrie, Beal/Jrue, KD, Zion, Mitch is a lot better than anything else we can put out there

Knixkik @ 5/14/2019 6:27 PM
If i'm the knicks i don't do it simply because it will cost Zion, Knox, Smith, Ntilikina, and the Dallas picks. That is unless that's the only reason KD and Kyrie commit. If we land 2-5 however, i'll offer that player, knox, Smith, Ntilikina, and the Dallas picks for Davis. If we land 2-5 and no Davis deal, i'll offer that player, Knox, Smith, and Ntilikina (no future picks) for Beal. I think he's a solid consolation prize if you can put KD, Kyrie, and Beal on the same team, and keep Robinson, Dotson, and all future Knicks and Mavs picks. Beal is young, durable, and a very good 3rd option on a contender.

It's the smart move, but most of our fans will probably be against the idea.
HofstraBBall @ 5/14/2019 7:09 PM
WTF? Jinx thread? How bout we wait for the lottery before going on #1 pick tangents.
