We had a window to trade him at full retail. We took the chance he’d grow wings.
By Next season he would have not played a game in 20 months and based his fatigued rookie year then less than half a season of healthy all star play he’d be clamoring for a full max extension this summer. IF DSjr turns out fine, and really he still has a high ceiling and one of those picks too, then it all might be for something.
If you expected Zion, Kyrie and Durant then I can understand the disappointment.

Yeah, I'd rather keep developing what we have than blow money on Rozier. Guys pining on for him are gambling on him becoming a front line starter. Why not just gamble on our young guys?

I wanted to argue with both of you... I went to find stats to make my argument, but there aren't any. Rozier took a massive step backwards last season, and two seasons ago he was average at best. I think there is this story out there that he was really good an on the ascent, but he was average at best two seasons ago and last year he sucked

This. Berman’s article makes it sound like Perry is fond of Rozier. I would much rather see what DSJ, Frank and Kadeem can do. Also, RJ may end up being the primary ball handler down the road.

Best scenario is healthy competition and we trade the weak link, but weak in this case is all did really well!! Rozier contract has to be reasonable and movable. We can play guys and then trade them. Picks, Free agents and those acquired. Perhaps one day??

Healthy competition can be misconstrued as not being wanted. Especially when some haven’t been given a fair chance.

You already saw that movie, and it was pretty much a nightmare 17 win season.

We traded Porzingis because he wanted out.
So we get whatever we could.
What it has to do with this or next or next to next summer?

I thought we traded KP to get rid of Janis?

Can't keep the piggy bank full, have to spend at least $60 mil of our cap to satisfy the cap spending rules.

I would have been more optimistic with a young core of RJ, Mitch,DSJ, KP, knox..

Unfortunately you don’t get DSJ unless you trade KP.

I really want to see Kadeem get regular rotation minutes. I really want to see DSJ with a training camp under his belt and more familiarity with his teammates. I am hoping Dotson is back from his torn labrum. I didn’t realize that he was playing with it for most of last season. I think Frank is moved off the ball so he needs to be able to hit the three. I agree about guys getting a fair chance. I don’t think Frank is getting his 21 minutes a night no matter what. Too many guard/wing players that are fighting for a career in the nba.

Smith was hurt and didn’t have a training camp. I loved what I saw from Kadeem. Hoping he is judged on his play and not on his age and draft position

It's common mistake. Guys blow up in the playoffs and the media starts the narrative that he's turned the corner. They neglect the fact that the playoffs are dependent as much on matchups and coaching as it is talent. A team then goes and signs him to a deal only to find out he really hasn't improved as much as they though. THJ is exhibit A. I'm not saying Rozier is trash, just that his market value exceeds what his value to the team would be.

to me, he has to take a one year prove-it deal. I would have no interest in anything else really

I like the 1 yr prove it deal. But Rozier is a 2 way player, who plays defense bigger than his size. Offensive wise, his stats are similar to DSJ, so on paper it's not an upgrade. And DSJ is 3 yrs younger. But Rozier has that defensive dog mentality that DSJ doesn't currently have.

Maybe my vocabulary is different than yours but how is Rozier a 2-way player when his offense sucks?

In that playoff run, he was pretty productive (which is why he's even on anybody's radar) but then came the bench role, toxic lockeroom and the reduce minutes, and he started forcing the action.

In any event, he's better than frank and kadeem..

Rozier led the Celtics to the 2018 Eastern Conference finals when Irving went down with another knee injury. During that deep playoff run, Rozier averaged 16.5 points, 5.7 assists. and 5.3 rebounds.

According to sources, Rozier’s rough 2018-19 season was due to a toxic locker-room chemistry, partially created by Irving.

In a bench role, occasionally held to 10-to-12 minutes a game, Rozier did not have a big impact.

Rozier, a good penetrator, 3-point shooter and defender, finished averaging 9 points, 2.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 22 minutes. He shot 39 %from the field, but a respectable 35.3% from 3-point range.

He had one stretch where he looked like a starter, but hasn't really been good outside that stretch. A small sample size of being good doesn't give me a lot of confidence. The fact that he sulked because he was benched for a player who is clearly better than him doesn't give me confidence.Frank is a better defender, Kadeem has a better head on his shoulders and DSJ is a better prospect. Why spend money on Terry on the hopes he will improve? He is a project. Why not invest in the projects we already have.

I've also read comments from Boston fans that say his defense isn't as stout as some proclaim.
