Frank is not only going to be huge part of this core, but he fits in fantastically with what we are trying to do. Knox looks like a straight up scorer. A bucket dropper. Hopefully he becomes a great 2-way but at worst he looks like he'll have some great scoring chops. So you have a scorer in Knox around 3 long and hopefully elite defensive guys with KP/Frank/Mitch.
Frank is such a difference maker. As this team gets better and goes into the playoffs Frank will easily be one of the most important guys. He's so good defensively he's a guy your going to put on the other teams's best scorer and I promise you the guy is going to have a tough series.
But yea... why take my word for it

Why would you only focus on PPG? There are a ton of other metrics in the FIBA games, short as they were, that tell a different story
Frank will NEVER be about points, so why look there?

Yeah, check out his "longest string of games without an injury".
FIBA games. Yeah, Frank's stat lines just tell a tremendous story. Shooting .512% from 2 in a league without defense! 1.8 steals per game! .8 blocks! 4.6 assists!

No matter, he's got another 4 or 5 years at least before he's considered a bust, no matter how he under-performs.

no idea what you are talking about man

If he's 25 when that happens it will really suck for the Knicks because he will likely be long gone. If its sooner he could be here for a decade.http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topi...

He's a team first defensive player with court vision. We have seen him effectively guard elite players. We saw that in the Fiba vs. Kemba for sure. He also had a few scoreless games as well I believe. But locking down scorers and hitting clutch buckets is something this squad can really use.
If I look at this team the best backcourt I see is a Frank/RJ backcourt that can smother teams with length and size. DS strikes me more as Lou Williams/Bobby Jackson type bench scorer, but a guy who gets 30 minutes a night. But Frank has to perform. Thats just the real world part of it. He strikes me as a guy worth being patient on, especially because of his work ethic.
Still love him, but doesnt cloud my judgement. He's gotta perform. I hope he makes it. The thought of Frank/Mitch guarding the P&R for years to come is a nice thought

Games are 20% shorter. Also there were games he got in foul trouble and sat. Thing is you had to have seen the games but understood one thing: He contributed to winning. The game against Team USA was awesome. Does that mean he is a bonafide player now? Of course not.
No coronation. But if you didn't have him for two years, drafted him, and at age 21 watched his FIBA you'd be stoked. Picked at no. 8? That might be a stretch. If no extension its logical that someone will extend him. His trade value won't be much given that scenario.
My sense is he will be extended. We don't do that kind of stupid anymore.

Did you watch FIBA? The defensive was a lot more physical and there was less spacing than the typical NBA game. Just look at the problems our US team had scoring against the better teams. Plus he did all that in 19.5 minutes a game. I agree, Frank has a lot to prove. But, if anything, the stats you posted show why we should be optimistic going into camp.

The point wasn't "Let's be optimistic about Frank" it was, based on FIBA, we are looking at a BREAKOUT YEAR FOR FRANK. I agree, 1.2 steals and 4.6 assists are better than what Frank's shown before, but this BREAKOUT YEAR SHIT is just that.
Hey, I want Frank to be Clyde 2.0 as much as any of the Phil lovers/PerryFiz haters on here, but screw it until he shows something sustained during an NBA season.
Again, Daniel Jones??? You really see that happening with Frank based on what you've watched in NBA real life for two years?

Thank you. We will know Frank has really turned the corner when he is able to string together more than a couple of good games. Then weeks, if not months of waiting for the next good game or two. Dont believe Frank will stick in NY if the progress looks to be incremental.
Kudo's to Eli for taking it like a man though!!!
Hope Fiba Frank is for real. Yoot is inconsistent until they are not or they are made gone. No fan should wish him ill. Our Best scenario is the kid is awesome and either as trade asset or makes another player also doing well a trade asset!
Hoping he fails so Mills looks bad or Perry is silly kids stuff. Trix are for kids.

I guess it depends on how you define "breakout." My point is Frank's stats were pretty good when you put them in the proper context. You said he did all this against teams that don't play defense and that's far from true. The top FIBA teams showed some stout defense. If Frank could find seams in FIBA defenses, he should be able to do it against NBA teams. I agree that it is way too early to say Frank will bring a Danny Dimes effect. Heck, it's too early to say what Jones effect is after one start. We're all optimists before the season starts. I hope DSJ and Payton find jumpers. I hope Trier shows he's not a low ceiling, high floor player. I hope RJ jumps up from SL like Derrick Rose did. You gotta take it all with a grain of salt.
The Knicks would trade Dan Jones for cap space anyways.

Sounds like you have very low expectations for next season. Cant blame you. Have no idea how this season will go, but Im guessing that it will be more fun watching games, than in seasons past. Good young players who want to prove themselves. If we cant contend next season, hoping to see a team starting to turn the corner. If you believe thats wishful thinking, you are right. Better that than "game over man, game over!"

Varied opinions are ok. But if your informed you can smell the BS. WE don't need to watch Fox or CNN to have formulated our own opinions based on events that actually happen. What people do matters.
Knicks have a bad history and just came off a 17 game season. Worried we can't win with Chasson Randle, Ron Baker, Mario, Mudiay, etc etc.....they not here. we have questions based on facts. Is frank better? Is DSjr gong to play to his ability, is Mitch the real deal in the making, is RJ barrett a future allstar, is Knox, also from good pedigree going to keep getting better.
Same old same old? Hardley. But they have yet to earn the benefit of the doubt. So they don't get it.
