Some video of Fiz's interview after 1st day of camp.

That was great. Thanks for posting it.

Anyone grow over the summer??

LIked Fiz's comments about full court press as a weapon. After we saw FIBA Frank wear out Kemba its not a bad idea. Have a tool, use it?
Football Giants under Parcells had a game plan. Part of it was wear down the opponent. The running game was to batter the team so by the 4th quarter they were pliable. Knicks are young deep team and can throw a lot line ups out there with viable vets too.

IN other news Enes Kanter is talking. Talked about defense being a team aspect as he has been called out. He said his defense in Portland was good because they were a good team. In my mind he justified why he is not being paid 20mil. Your either part of the solution or a role player. He is a good role player. He said he asked to be traded in Utah, and OKC traded him because they wanted Melo. "Knicks only place he wanted out". Not what he said until he was benched in NY actually. He wanted to be paid and stay. Most players want that. They say that. I like Enes but he talks a lot.

Knicks camp has everyone playing, no one resting but Dotson who is not ready after shoulder surgery. With Him and Bullock on roster later one would logically expect a trade.

As for Perry not commenting on Extending Frank I totally get it, but isn't Dennis in the same situation? I look at both the contracts via https://www.spotrac.com/nba/new-york-kni... and other than amounts they are in similar situations. By that I don't think Mav's could have extended him.

Logically I fully expect Knicks to at the very least extend DSjr but it makes sense even if the fractional chance he blows his knee up the first two weeks of camp. No reason other than why wouldn't they wait until the very end of the month? Dennis is a better offensive player than Frank but he also has to prove a few things as well to justify the continued investment.

I think your reasoning is valid for both Frank and DSJr no reason to extend either when a freak accident could happen or they could bum it up. As is I think both of them will get extended simply because 1) we don’t need to use the cap space immediately and 2) it keeps them as actual young contract trade pieces to send to another team.

Good words by Fiz even though I don’t take the chatter too serious. The most important part is he said Frank is healthy.
technomaster @ 10/2/2019 1:51 PM
Lots of questions from the interviewers about Frank (the longest tenured Knick!). At the very least, it sounds like Fiz was very conscious about Ntilikina's success at the World Championships... and he even made note that he got some ideas of what he could do with him based on the Frank/Rudy pairing, given that our center Robinson has many similar qualities on D.

On the other hand, somehow RJ Barrett has largely escaped the spotlight. As the #3 overall pick, you'd expect reporters to treat Barrett like the shiny new toy.

Fine by me. Take the pressure off him and let him work and have fun. There are other talented guys on the team and there is zero reason ti give him the Patrick Ewing treatment.

Via Bergman this morning:
.Fizdale repeated the offense will be more complex than last season’s heavy-iso and straight pick-and-roll sets. Fizdale indicated the league’s youngest team couldn’t handle more.

Assumption by some that he did to have the chops. Others assumed it was deliberate. With all the roster changes last year mid season it makes sense.

Yep. Key for spacing. Also would make Payton/Frank combo feasible on offense.

Frank hits that shot he will be respected and yes, it opens up a lot of possibilities!
I like Payton. And a combo of Frank/Payton does bring a lot of problems for opponents.

frank, payton and mitch on the floor together is a prime D unit

the real future is a Frank/RJ backcourt. Two guys who are 6'6 and can handle the ball and make plays. Frank guards the more dangerous player on offense. Those guys would look great in the 3 guard sets that dominate the NBA as well.

this is the most exciting training camp I can think of.

We get to see RJ, 3rd pick and most thought would be #1. It was more Zion and Ja blowing up than RJ falling back.

We are expecting to see marked improvements to these (hopefully core) players:
Frank: Fiba Frank!
DS: down 15 pounds, back healthy, looking to elevate teammates (getting RJ ROY)
Knox: Stronger
Mitch: more complete game, playing in a structured offense

I mean these are 5 guys we hope are big parts of the plan moving forward and there are reasonable expectations that if they stay healthy we will see better versions of them this year

Nice, fresh new players for a new season. Looking forward to seeing how they all pan out
