Awesome stuff. Thanks for posting it. Great win. This was fun as well.

so good.
If we could *just* get better PG play we will start winning more games
$158mil
This the guy that wanted out due to "losing ways".
I heard this on the radio yesterday in Dallas while drive home. The Mavs are +28 per 100 possessions when KP is not on the court.
nothing makes me happier than seeing/hearing other peoples' miseries

Guys, the Knicks suck generally but I think we gotta give credit where it’s due. They played their minds out. The version of DSJ that showed up is the one that we wished we had in Dallas.
Previously it was Curry that needed to play more. Now it’s Jackson and Broekoff.
Just accept the fact, they all suck, players 2-15. They are bench players not worth more than 15 mins per game.
This is not a coaching issue.
The best thing that happen to this team is to miss the playoffs, get a top 5 pick and trade for a 3rd starter.
Next year FA is horrible and besides we don’t have cap. No one is taking our bench players for a starter.
THJ is out there because he is a better defender than most on our team (though, like everyone tonight, he is prone to sagging off shooters), and he is one of the most assured players on our roster in terms of creating offense himself. Seth can’t do that, DFS definitely can’t do that (unfortunately, he struggles to dribble), and Delon/Justin Jackson can only do so in short bursts. To the extent you don’t like THJ, it’s a talent problem, not a coaching problem.
On their coach:
How long are we gonna let him live off the 2011 championship?
^ Our defense is abysmal. Our offense is smoke and mirrors. I am done watching KP stand flat footed at the top of the arc and Luka try to create an offense by himself. We have a great roster, but Rick is doing some grade F coaching. I don't think I can watch him burn this team to the ground this year and I don't think I will. See ya next year.
We’re frauds. Pretenders playing as contenders against a weak early season schedule. We’re only making the playoffs if more injuries strike or if we get hot at the right time in our schedule. The expectation was .500 this year, but wow it’s painful for two Knicks losses to possibly be a part of that.
Agreed. Everyone is overreacting rn when you can see how much the Knicks wanted this. We shot 22 from 3. It was a bad shooting night. But THJ needs to gtfo
KP is not dirk. They need to stop these bullshit ass mid post ISO’s.
Patrick Beverly would’ve been nice on this team. Then we wouldn’t be getting trolled by average players like Marcus Morris every night
Mavs need a proper center. KP is a 4 that plays like a 3 that occasionally plays the 5.
Lots of "Rainmen" to go around.
Kudo's to the ones that gave us credit. WE tend to not give enough to other teams when they beat us. WE tend to "we lost the game". As if it was ours.

Someone else posted that Luka lost on purpose

I enjoy every win. Every true Knick fan should. But just not down with the whole "Hope KP fails so it makes us forget how the FO fucked that up". Fans can try to spin things to cope. Understandable. Fact is KP was our unicorn. Still highly skilled and a freak talent. FO lost their only draft pick that has gained All Star status. Rather just move on and not forget the "Many things" the people that run this organization have done to keep us a laughing stock. If we keep ignoring that and continue to blame every player that realized that, once here, we do nothing to change the joke we now call the Knicks.

I don’t think think we are excusing our FO BUT it’s clear KP forced his way out which is pretty unforgiveable. It’s no secret that I was a huge KP fan despite him having flaws in his game and not going to that exit interview which was unprofessional. I still was excited for his future here but in the end he screwed us. So no I don’t have any issue with the reception he received, it was well earned IMO. However from this point on IM done with KP and just focused on the Knicks. However I’m still noticing the same issues with KP. Obviously still talented but he does tend to disappear or get tired down the stretch, doesn’t rebound well for a big man, block shots but does get torched a lot on defense, and most of all his injury history is scary. But like I said I’m done with him and just focused on us.
Schandenfreudy post, lol. KP has been out for a long time, so I expect his efficiency to get better. Interesting stuff about the post ups. We'll see if KP's extra weight, and improved conditioning will help him improve his shooting pct there. If it doesnt, thats a big deal for a 7fter. Dirk didnt become "Dirk" until just before he won the MVP. Became a more physical, tougher, player. KP has Dirk to mentor him. If I were a Mavs fan, the biggest thing Id worry about is KP having gas in the tank in May. We'll see what happens.

Why does KP need to play in the post? Isn't his ability to pull a big away from the paint allowing Luka and the guards free runs to the basket more valuable? If they put a smaller player on him he ca just bomb a 3
Bottom line is not KP but knicks success stand on its own. Obviously easier if KP falters and drops to our level of misery.
Does it really matter what Dallas does if knicks rise and win a chip? Even better, a knick-Mav final were both teams win from the trade? Until then we’ll focus on KP and our FO.

Game slows up in the playoffs. If KP's shooting is off, its good to have the ability to post up smaller players, score, get to the line. Thats what made Dirk so deadly, once he developed a low post game. He could kill you from the perimeter, or play like a traditional big. Versatile. What makes Doncic so good. Seems like a waste for KP not to use his length, and soft touch, to punish smaller players.

I agree and think long term KP “Should” do that. Naturally he should play to his strengths which is the outside shot and improved handle for a guy his size. A Face to basket 7’3 guy with reasonable handle and tat agility is damn impressive. Ewings prime he was all that but not the handle. KP does many things so well and he does need time to not get back to where he was, but then start building to his tools. Dirk became dirk when he got his core strength. KP at 24 is a year or two from reaching his body. The skinny ass Phil mentioned might limit what he can do in the paint. There are advantages still for being a small forward in a 7’3 body.
Of course how KP does is a matter of import to Knicks fans. We had a major trade go down and part of the trade is not just who we get back but the opportunity gained from not being TIED TO a bad contract.
We all remember having max contracts guys (like Amare, Penny, Francis, Eddy CUrry, Stephon, AHouston, etc ), who don't play like MAX guys anymore are a HUGE dead weight to a team.
We all loved "rookie-wage scale KP".
We don't know if we would've loved "MAX CONTRACT KP".
Yet probably most Knicks fans would've been super happy MAxing him out if all the trade talk never happened.
So it bears watching.... would MAX KP have been a wise use of Knicks $$$$
OR DID WE DODGE A BULLET?
That's why we watch KP in Dallas.
I want KP to fail because it affects us greatly. If he fails then that means the 2 1st round picks we got from the trade will be lottery picks

KP gets the lion's share of attention in that trade but that's just 1/3 of the equation. Its more like KP vs DSJ and its hard to imagine the Knicks not being better off with DSJ than Darko even if DSJ disappoints. There is the MAX long term implications of KP, the elimination of the headcase family dynamics, the elimination of ego/prima donna power struggles to contend with, the potential for reinjury, and so on.
With DSJ, he either works out or doesn't, no drama involved.
The rest of the trade is all a Knicks win - Cap space flexibility, extra draft picks. Pinch me.

KP is not going to fail. It’s just a stupid stat that they harped on the radio here in Dallas. He is coming off a long lay off so it going to take time and he is only going to blend into their system better.
Here is another stat they compare him to Nowitzki a lot here so here this one. Nowitzki has four or Five 5 threes and 5 block games. KP has three already for the Mavs.

I had to look it up. 2021 is unprotected and 2023 is top ten protected.
