I admit I was never a big Melo fan. although after the whole KP fiasco I do respect hm more because he did love the city and wanted to stay and even though he had problems with Phil he still went to the exit interview to talk to Phil which I respected. Anyway as for melo the player there is no doubt his scoring ability is one of the best in my generation even though I didn't like the constant ISO. But there is no doubt of his scoring ability. I never saw Melo as the top guy on a contender. I felt he fit better as the 2nd guy who can provide the scoring. But like I said before I do have more respect for him than maybe I did years ago and even though you make fair points about the 54 win season he still had a very good year overall so I give him credit for that.

As you are finding out he is not capable of being second to anyone. That is why OKC and Houston did away with him and the resistance.

Last night Randle passed and only had one turn over. He is figuring things out which is not linear. I think Morris is also forcing things less.
Seems Randle is handling it less, Frank more, and Barrett also a bit more laid back. Randle had a hell of a first half.
Short term his stat line vs. KP makes for a more compelling line. Lets put it this way, is the trade for KP, Hardaway, CLee for Dennis, Two first rounders AND Randle change how we look at it? KP is one hairline Foot fracture from the trade a steal (for us) but at the end of the day I expect KP to be a 20-8 player as a base line because that's what he was before he got hurt. He is second fiddle to Luka, he should benefit from that as well.
Im good with Randle as a third option.
It's kind of a lazy comparison. Randle and Melo. Aside from being ISO heavy, that is the only thing I see that is comparable. Randle is a way better rebounder. Melo is an ALL NBA scorer. Randle is a willing passer but execution is bad. Melo's passing is a last resort. Melo's defense is crap aside from the occasional slap block. Randle is actually an adequate defender.
The comparable player to me is Chris Webber without the hops.

The frustrating thing about Melo was that he could pass. I'd say he was better than Randle when he had the mindset. I don't see the Webber comparison. A healthy Webber had a legit post presence and was another tier athletically. He was also a couple levels higher has a ball handler and passer. I think Oak was a better than Randle, honestly.

Also Randle is back to basket and Amare more facing but point is they are TO prone guys who feast in the paint and have jump shots somewhere between OK and suspect. Amare was pretty unstoppable around the basket so honestly he didnt need to be as rounded as Randle but similar results/spacing... although I call Randle poor man because Amare and his high eff% scoring simply made him a higher impact player

Even weirder was Nuggets won 57 games and Karl was COY.
Usagewise, both Randle and Morris reminded me of Melo, not so long ago. They both can get tunnelvision, go on runs. Why its important to have a PG who can feed Randle and Morris, without them having to dribble themselves into trouble. And is able to pick up the slack when their shots arent falling.

I guess that's one of the reasons I been hating on so many of the Knicks consistent losses this season .. they been reminders of ISO-Melo consistency bringing the ball down the court 80% of the time (before/After LinSanity & Kidd) for so many losing seasons.
Yep ..there's little difference in Randle/Melo on Knicks ....
Melo's Ball handle is like a play-maker to get a quick two on a pick n roll, Melo cant pass well so he don't.
Randle's ball handle or offensive IQ is not as elite as Melo however, Randle & Melo defensive performance has always had complaints from their teammates each season.
