Knicks · Would any of these make sense if Mills/Perry are dead set on making moves this season? (page 1)

I do think we should stay the course, continue to stink and get a top 3-4 draft pick. That said, there are reports out suggesting Mills and Perry are looking at trades/players in efforts to show improvement and save their jobs... Would you do any of these 3 hypothetical deals make sense if the team is set on trying to trade to make some progress this season
(Yes, most of these players have been brought up already from other posters).

1)J.Randle, Portis and E.Payton for Chris Paul, Terrance Ferguson and future #1 pick (top 3 protected)

(Would have a proven PG with leadership who could help us start regaining respectability - very old and terrible contract)

2) J.Randle, Kadeem Allen (signed to trade) and future (Dallas) #1 pick for L.Markkanen and Thadeus Young

(Markkanen is a perfect 4 next to Mitch (like KP was) and is struggling in Chi - would have to take Thadeus and give us Dallas pick)

3) J.Randle, Portis, Mitch and #1 (Dallas) pick for D'Angelo Russell and W Cauley-Stein

(D.Russell is great shooter and could fit well next to RJ, WCS is decent - hard to give up Mitch, better to wait for draft to find PG?)

If we were to make a significant trade - seems like Randle would be our most desired to depart so far. I would need to know how the PG prospects compare to D.Russell (and even Paul as stop gap for 2 years). Assuming they're not special/transformative - I would consider the GS and the OKC one just because leadership from the PG position would offset many of the things this team lacks - direction, poise, ball movement, outside shooting, etc...

Would like to hear thoughts as (like it or not) - I do expect to hear some trades approaching for the Knicks...

It's hard to make a trade when you really don't know if this is going to be the coach for the future.

I think you first have to develop a system and identity before you start trading and adding players that may not fit.

I firmly believe that They built this roster to trade for the next star who demands/request a trade

love markannen's fit next to mitch
dacash @ 12/10/2019 5:18 PM
The markennan trade is by far the best for the team and for fit

My only concern about Mills, is his forcing Perry to make a Hail Mary, quick fix trade, to keep his job, that costs us some good young players. If its a certainty (it isnt) that Mills is gone, would rather see mgmt not go for broke. Firing the coach is one thing, a bad deal(s) are another.

Besides the Paul trade there is zero chance they could happen

If Mills is on thin ice, I don't see how they make any kind of major trade.

And the entire point of signing these players was for them to help with the development of the young players.

You sign Morris so you can let Knox develop behind him as opposed to being exposed. Oddly, Knox has seemingly taken a step back this year. But you hope he moves forward.

Randle was brought here to be part of the longer term. He is not being traded until Mills is out.

Payton - no way he is traded - we're desperate for PG skills.

Now - a move they should make, is perhaps looking at trading DSjr - I know, can his value be any less?- perhaps in a package. Starting to think maybe Knox too.

None of those are hail mary moves, and I don't see any that make sense.

There’s no harm in making trades to improve the roster this year if it also adds players for the future of the team. Guys like lauri M and D russell fit the bill there.

I'm ready to trade all of our young guys except RJ, the habits that they have develop last yr seem to really hit home this season.

Some fans think we have good young players even though we're not a good young team..DENVER has good young players which is why they are a very good young team.

We have young players that do a couple of things good every once in a while..

The worst part is I see RJ starting to developing some bad habits, just terrible shot selections

OCTOBER 47% FG
NOVEMBER 39% FG
DECEMBER 25% fg

Markennen is not having a good year. He missed 2 months last year after a sprained elbow. I would not call that chronic.
Bulls are a shyt show themselves not that far behind us.
I'm not a trade kinda of thread poster as I like to think first what does the other team need that Markennen can be traded for?
Also are they not seeing him as future building block? They have Wendell and I have him pegged as a Randle type player. They might be ready to move from Kris Dunn with Coby white and LaVine pretty much set for the next 5 years.
