Knicks · It's not that NBA stars don't want to play for the Knicks, They have no spine to survive handle the pressure. what do you think? (page 1)
Through out the years we had many players come to the Knicks that played great ball for other teams and then fade in New York. Then we had guys like Patrick Ewuing, and John Starks, survive and be stars. Clyde Fraizer and that 1969 and 1973 team Bernard King , Oakley
and others. Lebron new if he came to New York and won a title he would no doubt be the greatest player ever even over MJ. Leborn new he couldn't handle NY Knicks Kevin Durant new he could'nt and so did Kyrie Irving. Brooklyn will never be New York Knicks no matter who they get. Yes I know we suck but is there anyone out there who have a pair of balls to come to New York. The next time the Knicks win a championship it will go down in history as the greatest play-off ever and Durant and Lebron will be still running around getting stars to play with them to win another fake and brought championship.

Durant and Lebron will be long retired before we win any chip.

Papa, I hope you got good genetics and a spring in your step! Its not looking good. Im in my 50's and Im not hopeful anytime soon.
You may want to look into who succeeds Dolan if he should become incapacitated to perform his duties as Knicks NBA governor and general partner.
I thought KP was built for this city. Regrettable circumstance! Starks kind of wilted in the big moments. Not just game 6 vs. Rockets, there were numerous times him and mase got ill timed techs.
I think Melo was cool about it but JR as fun as he was did not handle it on the court. Melo did not have enough talent around him.
Only Willis has been a regular season MVP as a knick. That's it. Clyde was built for this. Bernard needed maturity. Remember he was a wild child as a net. It Think Durant wanted to be a knick but the time line was not right. Kyrie maybe? But I doubt it.
Dolan is not man enough to stand up and be accountable.

You know why this is wrong? Lebron won three titles. Durant won three titles. The Knicks are lucky to win 3 games a month.
Just stop projecting on to these all time greats some sort of emotional reason why they couldn't handle New York. They could have easily handled New York. They couldn't handle a loser of an owner, the WORST owner in all sports, James Dolan.
People can actually get by with no spine. But having no brain or heart is a killer. And James Dolan has zero of both, and that's become part of the Knick's DNA. And everyone around the league knows it.

It's Fans like this that don't want to hold the organization ACCOUNTABLE. They want to complain that players can't take the pressure or media, and that might be a small part of it.
BUT the BIG picture is the fact that this is not a well run franchise, and when they do have star players they treat them like ROLE players.
Everybody who comes here with a solid reputation, by the time they leave their reputation is damn near in the TANK, from player, to coach, to president.
You think Players don't take that into consideration. All we have to offer is the MONEY and the LIGHTS,and those are the players that you should more concerned about..

how does one hold an organization accountable? What exactly is 1248 doing and how does it have an affect? Does Dolan listen to you? Or for that matter, does anyone listen to you?

That fan is an NBA player.
"everyone that comes here"? There are a lot of circumstances. Dyess had an injury reputation, Amare bad knees/back, Spree tried to kill PJ, Melo came with all kinds of Moby-like accolades to idolize and some not so great aspects. Do we talk about Marbury? KVH actually left with a better rep.
Besides the obvious that speaks for itself wins vs. Losses, what is the real issue? Not abstract please! I think players do want to come here but they are afraid not of the media, but of the constant instability?
I'm sure most of us on here would look and sound terribly brilliant babbling like fools in front of someone who sits courtside, hires and fires people at the level of Old Man Triangle, and manages not only a corporate empire, but also manages to play a really bad (bad as in actual quality) lead guitar.
Dolan tries to do things. He meddles. He brings in big names. He gets forced to bring in bright guys. He brings in some bright guys himself. He brings in idiots. He steps back. He steps away. He steps back in. He fights with fans. He fights with ex-players. He kisses and makes up.
And most importantly, he hands out cash like an insanely rich fucking drunk uncle at a Bar Mitzvah.
6 years ago we won the division and were one goaltending call away from a Game 7 and then possibly going to the ECF.
Nobody's saying Dolan's great. I personally think he carries himself like an A-grade asshole, just by a cursory glance at the things that get reported. But please, for the love of shit, stop placing all the fucking blame (to borrow some Nalodian currency) for other people's pussy-ness on Dolan. When MSG is rocking and the Knicks are good, name one other venue ON EARTH that is anywhere near what a Knicks game is like.
Lebrons a pussy. He flops, he skips games and all you have to do is listen to him. He wouldn't win here no matter who the owner is because he's not capable of winning it all without handpicked superfriends around him. And the media would fry him and his fake hair every day and twice on Sunday. Some of you Melohaters scream "coach killer" incessantly. Imagine having the King of Coach Killers here, front and center, every day. And no rings to kiss to show for it.
KD is the new Lebron on steroids. Leaves OKC and gets chips with the front runners in the league. Biggest pussy move since "The Decision". Even bigger, because Miami hadn't won shit before LeQ took his talents there. Think KD and his insane intellect wants to answer to being called Mr. TagAlongChips every day by Berman and the rest of the reporting geniuses here?
Kyrie isn't even worth talking about. The Nyets are better without him. The NYETS. Say that slowly to yourself.
It takes a special level of cojones to handle this meat market. Some people have them. Most don't.
BK, Ewing, Starks, Oak, Spree, Stat, Melo. No rings, but they were here.

Here is where the panic sets in. REVENUE. Team value rises based on inflaton and NBA popularity. Knicks cable is a monster. The gate is good because tourists will go to games still. its the best place to see a game. But, losing is not good for revenue. Dolan's "Starpuchs" are panic responses. The brand is dying. Phil did raise interest even if it was not a technically a good move. Sucked me in. The triangle cultural revolution was fascinating. when garden was "Dying" he brings in Isiah and Marbury. Then undoes that mess to open up for Lebron. when that fails he brings in Amare and trades for Melo. Its broadway. Its drama. Its good for business.
Players can get the money from other teams and branding comes from success. This notion that players don't have the stones for it is BS. That Durant is not "Man enough"? That's not tangible. Its that Durant came from a well run organization and wants to go to another. The knicks reputation is one of Panic.
Fans like the Rainman fuel that. Fret not, your a product of the environment. To break the cycle of starphuching is not easy. I think we are stuck in a very bad place now and the cure might be the most unsexy boring process sure to unmotivated the NY fan. There is no basis to argue about past failures and sell that as a future.
How to really demonstrate stability? Firing Mills because he traded KP because we fired Phil for wanting to trade him is insanely unstable. Hiring fiz to bring in FA then firing him for not, all the while asking him to develop yoot which he might not have been all that good at is and was a bad idea. How do you stop doing bad things?
Its starts at the top. Have a plan and stick to it. Its not easy. I used to have an old Porsche 911. Engine is behind the rear wheels. awful design brilliantly executed. If you take a corner too fast and either break or let up on the gas the back will come undone. You actually have to stay with it or add more power and understand what happens next. Bascially not panic. If you don't understand this don't drive that car, drive another. If you drive it have a plan on what to do when things are not going well. Not Me, not the Rainman, but ownership. Dolan tries, but he does not have the fortitude or experience to have built something he did not inherit. That does not mean it can't get done. It can. Just Be COOL!!!
Be Cool when fans call you out. Riley had some awful seasons in Miami. They do the same thing all the time. They develop players, don't fire coaches, play a brand of ball and some years are really bad. Often they sign or over pay players. Riley knows this. Him and the owner get it. some years will suck, lose money, but there is a plan. Sometimes the plan does not work. Or work "Yet". Be cool, in time it does.

Why don't the Yankees have Issues with signing anyone they want, in the same Market The Knicks are in. Its because they are a well run organization
We are in a new era, and New generation of Kids (where players call the shots and play with who they want) and the ppl running in the KNICKS have a OLD school approach (build through the draft) and the owner hires his friends, as oppose to the most qualified.
So when KD says the Knicks are not cool, most old school fans are going to point to the franchise history 20 yrs ago and think this guy has lost his mind, We're NY, we are always cool.
80% of the players in the NBA were in Diapers when the knicks were good, some were not even born. They look at this as a consistently poorly run ORGANIZATION.
So when you say guys don't have the GUTS, don't act like it's all because of pressure and media, please take into consideration how the franchise has been appearing to them since they learned how to read and write.
I don't think anyone would take a JOB at a poorly run company that has a revolving door(high turnover)

so having 4 of top 10 lottery picks in 4 of the last 5 yrs , and that's not building trough the draft?
Last time i checked The spurs had 1(duncun) GSW had 1 (steph)...everybody else has either build through trades(Miami, houston, Raptors, Cleveland) or FA. We have/had..kp, Frank, Knox, RJ..and the worst record in the nba over the last 5 seasons or more
what part of that is making up stuff? Please tell me YODA

Its because you look at everything on the surface.
Front office thought having a rah rah buddy as a coach could lure star players. It’s actually disrespectful to those players.

To build using draft team need multiple 1st and 2nd round picks many years in a row.
Most of the picks will not end up as rotation players. Some needed for trades
Spurs are winning organization for 2 decades so they had no need to concentrate on draft
But looks like this time is coming for them too.
More team is mishandled more time it will take to correct things.
Knicks are mishandled more that anyone in all pro sports in long time so it will take the longest to recover.

Why don't the other 20 or so teams who never win anything hold their organizations "accountable".
The NBA is not organized baseball so comparing the running of the organization is an apples/oranges thing.
Like Martin, I find the organizational criticism to be magical thinking.
On one hand Dolan is criticized for an organization that's unstable and on the other, long-time FO types like Mills, Houston, Gabriel, and others are called out to be fired. And I don't recall the MSM or rainman advocating that Isaiah, Brown, Phil, and others be retained for the sake of continuity.
The fact is that Dolan has maintained a stable continuity of FO administrators who, when hired, were some of the most desirable executives in basketball.
Of course Dolan, like Trump, is blamed no matter what he does, doesn't, might, and won't do. He's guilty as charged by *EVERYBODY*. He can't buy wins, love, or loyalty.
And, like Steinbrenner before him, Dolan is villified with a desire by certain fans that he be forced to sell an organization that in the minds of these fans should never lose, always have the sun shining on them, and always provide a positive buzz. Lacking that, the owner must be dysfunctional for having a life that doesn't center around the one asset fans care about - the Knicks.
When fans complain about mismangement the most striking example is how well compensated the players all are. Dolan rarely if ever has instructed to tell the FO to carefully budget player salaries. The NBA players who don't sign here weaponize that weakness during free agency by playing their options against the Knicks willingness to pay. Of course there is no intention to sign here and even when they do sign, its not taken as an obligation to consistently produce. The character of the NBA players association is never criticized. Its the coaches, the FO, and - it goes without saying - Dolan who are scapegoated.
The MSM love to ridicule the Knicks as if the Knicks were the biggest threat upsetting the dominance of the small market teams ability to monopolize the playoffs. *Those owners* hold periodic pitty parties about their inability to sign and keep the LeBrons, Antedekoumpos, Wades, and other superstars who have never played for the Knicks. Heaven forbid the Knicks should sign one - it would end all competitiveness in NBA basketball.
Is that dead horse the Knicks? Let's kick it again and again and again.

Click here to view the TweetIt's Fans like this that don't want to hold the organization ACCOUNTABLE.

Your question makes no sense
Personally I think that the game in someways is loosing its luster. I think the 3 point shot game and no hand check is killing the game. We depend on shooters and the stars always get the call. Lebron or no other star will go to another team without another star being their. This is killing the NBA league. We have maybe 4 teams in the league that have a true chance to win it all. The others are just playing the game and hoping to get in the playoffs. Even with Durant with the Nets they will have a little chance of winning it all. The trade that brought Anthony Davis to the Lakers should have been denied by the league. And they need to start denying other superstars from getting together because it hurts other competitors from competing in a fair game.People wonder why some of the league team are loosing money. STOP FIXING GAMES THE NBA IS TURNING INTO THE NATIONAL WRESTLING ORGANIZATION.
