I really hope if we stay at 8 and the expected players are drafted ahead - we select D.Vassell. He seems solid and like a Mikal Bridges with slightly more potential (longer, faster, some ability to create own shot). While Mikal Bridges will likely always be a 3 and D role player - sometimes just filling a position with a good/solid player is better for team chemistry. Look at Booker and his progress this year - a lot of the improved bubble play involved Bridges. Suns just got rid of Oubre which says a lot for their commitment to Bridges. Would be nice to have another 2 way player that can defend wings, and doesn't get targeted on defense by other teams.

That is fair but we have better scouts and the book isn’t fully written on Knox. I want to see him in an actual system before I write him off.

I get what you're saying, but Mikal was a way better prospect Vassell. Better scorer from all three levels in college. Also, he's a shade taller, weighs more, has a longer wingspan and more on ball versatility.

Good article on Obi. Still not as high on him as a player, but I'm definitely rooting for him. Hope he's rubbed off on Knox.

https://empiresportsmedia.com/new-york-k...

He’s been hitting the weight room thrice a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) and playing against NBA players Jalen Brunson, Kevin Knox, former NBA player Terrence Jones and other draftees like Seton Hall’s Myles Powell, and his brother Jacob since Aril.

“Having those different styles of play, playing against those guys have been helping me a lot, especially on defense. Guarding the guards helped me because of how fast they are, how shifty they are. And I have to keep up, otherwise, I’ll be exposed,” Toppin said on zoom call. “I’m improving a lot, and people who think I can’t play defense, I’m going to prove people wrong.”

From ESPN on Edwards (this guy is PERFECT for Minn!!!! )
He says he doesn't think about being the first player taken. He'll be ready when the time comes, but "other than that, I don't even care."

"To be honest," he says, "I can't watch basketball."

He retells the story about the first time he dunked and how it signaled to him that he was talented and could accomplish something he might not have been able to in football, which was his first love. So that's the direction he went, simple as that, hanging up his cleats. "That's all I needed to see," he says.

So when after that did he get into basketball?

"I'm still not really into it," he says. "I love basketball, yeah. It's what I do."

He's not entirely convincing. He says if he were drafted by the NFL tomorrow, he'd let basketball go. "Because you can do anything on the field," he explains. "You can spike the ball. You can dance. You can do all type of disrespectful stuff." In the NBA, he says, "you can't do any of that. You'll get fined."

He goes on to say that he's an aspiring rapper. He's already recorded a few tracks with his older brother Bubba. So, like Damian Lillard? "But I really can rap," he says. "Dame, talking about -- I don't know what he's talking about. I'm rapping like Lil Baby." He says he won't release any songs until he's established in the NBA

I'd bet you Bitcoin to croissants the mob would have flipped their wigs if we had picked Bridges over Knox. Just like Mitchell over Frank. But short sighted revisionism allows them to flip the other way now.

This thought just crossed my head. I wouldn’t be stunned if Toppin goes in the top 3.

Dame Lillard right now:

Hoping we can trade Knox for Kira Lewis then come away with a Vassell, Lewis, T.Bey draft The speed, athleticism and length of this trio to go along with RJ, Mitch and Frank would be ideal for todays NBA. Bey is a nice compliment for Mitch with his defensive versatility and 3&D potential. Giving him ideal spacing and help defense. Vassell & Frank could provide some real strong perimeter defense. Lewis & RJ could be a real nice tandem in the backcourt.

That's a quality foundation with cap to spend on veterans to allow them to get some seasoning.

Im not high on Knox but his best fit is with a guy like Kira Lewis pushing the ball. He may be a stretch at 8 tho... We'll see

This is why Knox would probably be the best possibility of getting that done. Especially if Vassell is the pick at 8 who will command mins on the wing as does RJ. Then we can to fall back on pick #23. Knox I don't think he will be the defender that can guard both forward positions and provide help defense to pair with Mitch to provide the type of defensive frontcourt that could make the team special. His mindset and game is tailored to be mostly offensive while lacking in the dirty work department. But he doesn't really have the handle, blow by ability or shot creation skill for that. He could develop into a nice catch and shoot player like a Bertans though. But for the shot at Lewis and what he could potentially be. Its worth the shot imo.

I can see him slipping- I haven't heard any team say anything good about him or be enthusiastic about him. He looked bad in the workout, he comes across badly in interviews, I don't get how he's regarded as a top 3 pick

I never talked myself into that front-court. There was never at any point that I had a lick of faith in it. Stephon Marburys’ “They scared now” interview did nothing to help me.

Don't care what the Bulls do, but this seems like a bad proposal. Maybe we can offer them DSJ and #8 for Zach Lavine?
https://nbadraft.theringer.com/#mock
League sources say the Warriors are weighing whether to accept a trade offered by the Bulls that would send Chicago their no. 2 overall pick for Wendell Carter Jr. and the fourth pick. If the Bulls trade up, sources believe they’ll select Wiseman. If the Warriors drop, it’s unclear who their target is, but I’ve reported in the past that they’re high on a number of wings in the draft. Assuming Golden State keeps the second pick, Wiseman is the most likely choice. There isn’t a better place for Wiseman to address his weaknesses. During the early stages of Wiseman’s NBA career, he could fill the rim-running/protecting role that JaVale McGee played, but he’d hopefully evolve into much more once his shot-creation and floor awareness improve.

I’m still confused how we had to give up KP (injured or not) and Hardaway in a panic to clear space for free agents and Morey is in town for 5 minutes and he clears one of the worst contracts in the league for a late first and a second.

Literally incredible.

Unfortunately that wasnt an option for the Knicks. Hardaway couldnt stay healthy either, and he took up his share of cap space.
