Agreed. I like Max. But he stopped being a Knicks fan when he moved to LA to do ESPN Radio with Marcellus Wiley. He became a Lakers fan. Now he's back in New York and being exposed as a fair-weather fan.

There is no proven method. It all comes down to capitalizing on value and circumstance. Phil signing Noah wasn't the problem. Phils signing Noah to a 4 yr deal was the problem. If Noah was had for s a 1-2 yr deal then noone would really have a problem with that shot in the dark attempt at playoffs. If they look to starphuck, then judgement will come based on value and circumstance. Trading 2 first round picks for Chris Paul in order to just have someone to start off with would be terrible value, and doesn't fit the circumstances. Neither would trading 3-4 picks for Booker or something. Then contining to sell off assets to attempt to make the starphuck work.

The best thing that could happen is us hitting on this yrs draft pick along with Barrett, Mitch & any one of the other young prospects taking large steps. Then utilzing some of the assets we have to bring it together with a proven stud. With assets still left over to fall back on still. And if they really wanted to play high level chess. They would also look to continue to flip some of these picks for multiple future picks hoping to catch someone slipping and net a lotto pick out of it.

Donovan Mitchell wasn't viewed as a game changer going into the draft. Niether was Paul George, or Kwahi Leonard, or Klay Thompson, etcX100.... We need that type of break.

Meaning it wouldn't matter if it was through the draft or any other process. As long as the value holds up and the circumstances matched. For example I wouldn't even have a problem trading for Chris Paul if we were a championship calibre team. If he was able to be had in a salary dump with maybe offering a future protected pick to attempt to get over the hump. Trading the pick could be an option as well *IF THE VALUE AND CIRCUMSTANCES* make sense. But being able to draft one is still the best outcome since he would have a rookie scale salary. And his timeline would match.

These examples you are talking about are prime examples of capitalizing on value and circumstance. Miami blew up their playoff team that lost to the Knicks and netted 2 lotto picks in Caron Butler and Wade, I believe in back to back yrs. As well as cleared up their cap while they tanked those yrs to net Lamar Odom as a free agent. Then capitalized on Shaq and Kobe having a falling out. With Shaq being one of the most dominant players in the league with a few end of prime yrs left. These teams you named paired up draft picks that hit(Wade, Pierce) with proven superstar 2-way players capitalizing on value and circumstances.

Ok i get it, but based on history, who have we drafted and developed other Ewing, Starks, Mason. We don't have an ounce of evidence to prove otherwise, and there's been dozen and dozens of young players to be drafted or signed as FA's, who develop into anything note worthy

Do you know what Ganis, PG13, Mitchell, kawhi all have in come besides where they were picked, they all went to small market teams. NY isn't for everybody, and IMO, it's not a good environment for most young players to develop in...show me proof..

Any success the NYK ever had came from a veteran roster with a couple of nice young role players, like starks, houston types


Now here's what else I want you to think about, of all the players that had success in NYC, and there's been so few (Ewing, King, Sprewell, Mason, harper,Camby, KT, Amare, Starks, Melo..80's, 90's 2k) now compare those personalities, the competitiveness, the work ethic, the energy, to Knox, Frank, DSJ..

Playing those guys in extended garbage minutes because the season is a wash, is exactly why they have not developed nicely and continue to take losing as another day at the office..

But we dont know what his role actually is. Advisor? Image consultant? Rebranding specialist? I can kind of see why Dolan would let his image guy speak. And on the flip side how hard is his job? Did he speak with the Nets? Why is it different here? He should know what to say and what not to. This is just stupid.

There's a media policy? Hahaha I don't take this seriously. I mean Stoute. He's Spike Lee, but he gets paid real money, not frontcourt seats. Like you said, nobody really cares. I'm waiting for our POBO to take the mic. That's when we should turn on the heavy scrutiny. I can't get upset about someone putting on a clown performance hosted by two clowns and a rotation of hot assistants, uh, I mean moderators who tend to be gorgeous. I mean, you know what I mean.

Id say Stoute is not needed...yet. Stoute made his fortune promoting talented (if not brilliant) performers. His job in the past hasnt been trying to turn chicken shit into chicken salad. That showed in the interview. There is nothing to sell right now, not even a team president in place. No big time stars to sell to the public as well. Hiring Stoute now and sending him out there to do an interview was putting the cart before the horse. The horse being a team worth paying attention to.

It's funny to me, the Knicks as a basketball team and organization are one of the worst, and yet their new media/branding guy gets top billing on an ESPN show, something no other team would even sniff. And then said something and the Knicks are all over the place. He did his job very well. Over-stepped and yet in a week it'll all get forgotten and no one will really care.

The Knicks are relevant, they just stink as a basketball product.
