Dude has been playing some impressive Basketball, and before he got hurt last yr he had the Pels looking very solid. His perimeter game is very suspect, but he is definitely a floor general for sure.
I know most consider him a solid back up, but i think he's Rubio with out a jumper, I'll even go out on a limb and say if he even shot 34% from deep he's a border line all star.
Leon may come in here and try and trade for CP3, who knows, but I think we should bring him back
I wouldn't mind picking up his option. At the very least, he's showing the young guys what it takes to be even average in this league. Hopefully it rubs off.

why in earth would we trade for CP3? He is old, injury prone, and has an awful contract. But to answer you original question I would be interested in possibly picking up Payton’s option

He's a career back up and role player. It doesnt make him bad. He's great for the MLE or $8mm which is where he's at. You literally go on and on about how guys cant shoot are garbage. You rip bigs like Capella and Gobert who are good players as the reason their teams lose and its because they cant shoot 3s. Now think Elf is a borderline all star. This is all not only dumb, its spastic
OH and he's not a free agent so you dont need to resign him.

I'm not advocating for CP and I have no idea what direction the NEXT F/O will take, but regardless to anything, Payton is a solid guy as a starter or reserve off the bench.
Yes to picking up his option. No to CP3.
As for Payton, he was playing similar at the end of last season when he had 5 Straight triple doubles.

he's not a solid starter. He's a shit shooter and has been his whole career and is not exceptional at anything. What are you basing "solid starter" off of? You think he's an average NBA PG?
I think it'll depend on who they draft and if they keep/move DSJr/Frank
I’ll pick up his option and keep him as a backup and move the other 2 PGs.
I’m actually a little surprised that if the offer was true that we offered Payton, Frank, Portis and Knox for DLO that it was turned down.
Payton is a A level backup point guard and Warriors needed good depth for next season. Worth picking up his option just having the ability to trade him. I would imagine they pick up Bullock, Gibson and Payton in the offseason.

It was the pick that was the turning point. Minnesota pretty much gave their first-round lottery pick, and the Knicks declined.

Yup
He is getting double digit assist with very few shooters or finishers on this roster, that's pretty impressive.
If he had some knock down shooters (especially a stretch Center) he's a legit starter. He's a decent defender ( 8 stl last night) can rebound, and he's a young vet. Also when you look at the PG's in east, after Kyrie, Kember, Trey, Lowry, sexton and wall (none are known for their D, except 40 mill wall)who would you rather have?
Doubt MDA would come back, but he would be the type of coach that could turned Payton into a star
Keep him. He's been competent and at a low cost.
Seems like a good young player that doesn't bring any trouble, could turn into a Derek Harper later in career. What's up with his free throws this year? I would ask him to fix his free throws if resigning
i doubt there will be a better option for us, and continuity helps create stability.
The Bayou Rubio!!! Not even close.

Why are you surprised? Payton is a guard that cant shoot, he is worthless to the Warriors. Knox is horrible, if he showed anything maybe the deal gets done. We might get a late 2nd for him. Yes he is that bad. I will be shocked if he is in the NBA 4 years from now. Frank is a backup he has some use for warriors as a wing defender. Bobby Portis is just filler but he is one of the worst contracts in the nba dollar for production. I wouldnt give up anything for any of those players
We’re looking at an offseason with cap space and no obvious max player to focus on. I can see them going for short term and quantity again. Payton at 8M with no commitment beyond next season is probably a good value all things considered. Bullock’s second year option is also a no brainer by that logic.
