This guy would kill to be the knicks coach. Why are we not giving him his chance?

Why do you think the Knicks won't?

arkrud @ 2/18/2020 6:20 PM
He needs a veteran team... Ready to get into battles.
Tibs is not a teacher.
I doubt Leon wants him to fall.
From other hand Tibs used to teams who cannot shoot.
So in this way its a good match.
anrst @ 2/18/2020 6:21 PM
He would kill bc he has to bc no one else would hire him.
Uptown @ 2/18/2020 6:34 PM
The games has evolved and passed him by...No thanks.
GustavBahler @ 2/18/2020 7:21 PM
As an asst, sure. As a head coach he was either running players into the ground, or alienating them. Different NBA, as mentioned.
NYKBocker @ 2/18/2020 7:30 PM
I am good with either JVG, Miller or Thibs

His calling card is that of a defensive guru, yet his Minny teams were close to the bottom of the league on the defensive side of the ball and his offensive sets are uninspiring....No retreads, please.

Check the record of his D as an asst. Lets him focus on one thing.

Miller is 13-20. With this group of players, that is about as good as it will get. If the team continues at a .400 pace, I would give Miller another year and see what he can do. Miller seems like a good coach. The Knicks should focus on getting better players rather than a new coach. Plus, while Dolan does not care, they would save a boatload of cash keeping Miller for another year. If I am the new gm, I would see this roster is not ready to compete. Let Miller stay and if the team improves next year, great. If the team stinks, then you can make Miller the scapegoat. That would be my thinking.
Knixkik @ 2/18/2020 8:48 PM
Thibs or JVG would be fine, but really hoping miller would be the head assistant.
TLover @ 2/18/2020 9:47 PM
Thibs would be a great hire bc he is a “real” basketball coach. He would help Barrett & Mitch take it to another level.
jrodmc @ 2/19/2020 7:32 AM
Is Hubie Brown still alive?
"real" basketball coaches. SMFH...

I remember reading how Fiz was able to "relate" to "today's NBA"... that went well, didn't it?

IMHO, Miller's already earned another year, dealing with and actually winning games with this rancid pile of horseshit.

franco12 @ 2/19/2020 7:54 AM
I'd like to see who Miller would want to add to his staff as assistants - he didn't really get to pick this crew.

Thibs would make a great assistant - but there would be too much media focus on him, and on him as a potential replacement.

Miller has been honestly pretty good on defense. We need someone magical that can get these players to be able to shoot the ball better.

Preach!

KAT, Wiggins, Butler + and floundered

his game has not grown. I could imagine him as a very effective defensive assistant/associate head coach; but i cannot imagine him ever taking such a job either

pass on him, JVG and Jackson -- c'mon guys. These are like the Melos, Steve Francis, etc. of coaching -- their best days were in the past

First year with Minny 31-51, second year a giant leap to 47-35, followed by 19-21 and lots of turmoil between players such that Jimmy gets traded.

Players or coach or both?

KAT is one of the worst defenders in the league and cried about being worked too hard

cooch2584 @ 2/19/2020 10:26 AM
I really don't have a sway either way for thibs but you cant throw away miller. JVG seemed to have a rapor with young and old players back in the day but that was a long time ago. I would like to see miller get more emotional on the sidelines about bad calls, fouls etc....but it is what it is.
Vmart @ 2/19/2020 10:35 AM
I like Miller and would be very happy to have him be the Knicks coach now and in the future. He has done more with little than anyone could imagine. Since he has taken over he has had the team playing better and if I’m not mistaken has top eight record which basically mean if he had the opportunity to start coaching from the beginning the Knicks are close to or are in the playoffs.

Don’t think JVG and Tibs do anything differently than Miller. Remember Tibs has that propensity to basically run players into the ground with heavy minutes. Players today liked to be pampered and like the occasional day off or minutes management as longevity of career is the utmost importance. Tibs basically would cause a rebellion.

He can actually relate, but that's where the buck stops, he doesn't know how to do anything else as a head coach is suppose to do.

IMO it's just as important to have a balance coaching staff as well as a balance roster.

So guys like Thibs and JVG need to have offensive gurus on their staff
