“Oakley grossly misunderstands the law concerning a landlord’s right to remove a trespasser from its property,” Manhattan Federal Judge Richard Sullivan wrote in Wednesday’s verdict, according to the New York Daily News. “The law is clear that the MSG defendants had the right to expel Oakley from the Garden and that his refusal to leave justified their use of reasonable force to remove him.”

Was he legally trespassing? Wasn't he there as a ticket holder / guest?

Oakley plans to appeal the court’s decision, according to his attorney, Doug Wigdor.

“Charles is not one to give up,” Wigdor told the New York Daily News after Wednesday’s verdict. “While we are disappointed with the ruling, it’s just the beginning of the fourth quarter and we are confident that we can turn this around with an appeal that we plan to file in the coming days.”

Meanwhile, Dolan called for a truce in a statement on Wednesday.

“We thank the court for its ruling,” the statement said, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. “This was an incident that no one was happy about. Maybe now there can be peace between us.”

Dolan might be magnanimous enough after winning the legal case, to try and settle the case in the court of public opinion. Lift the ban on the OAK man! C'mon Stoute! What're they paying you for?

Lets level the field for a second and leave dolan out of it. The guy was relentlessly yelling and disturbing those around him. He was asked to stop? If not complying he was asked to leave. If not complying he was then unwelcome and thus trespassing. Read the back of the ticket and it says you can't act without regard to those around you. Oak did this in GSW a few years back. Its on video.
"Put a hand on me and see what happens".....
When we put Dolan back in the picture and Oak's been kind of vocal leading up to things.
One might say Oak looked for a public confrontation based on the language leading up to it. Right or wrong, its Dolans house. Its a private enterprise. Oak can say what he wants to media as long as it not malicious.
Oak is allowed his speech, but if he was out of line and then created a physical altercation by not complying. Is it entirely fair? Likey not. Is it the base of a lawsuit or monetary compensation judgement? Was Oaks image really damaged by getting tossed? Dolan did not have him tossed, he was not complying with rules of a spectator.
Now, did Dolan cross the line accusing him of intoxication? Was he? is there a precident of Oak publically disorderly? Yep. Not the first time. The Los vegas incident got thrown out of a pool party intoxicated which resulted in a back injury and subsequent firing from his coaching job with Hornets. Then there was the class b felony on two incidents he attempted to cheat in a casino. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2431... which was a really bad look for him. He pled it down to a simple misdemeanor. Casino's don't like bad press either.
While he is a beloved figure by knick fans this is what he faces as a character against Dolan. Dolan might be a little petulant arse but in a court of law he does not have the baggage Oak brings.
Seems to me as if Dolan/MSG did leave the door open for "peace". Oak is confrontational by nature and wants his apology. Court dismissed it. What did the Judge miss interpret?
Dolan can't really extend the olive branch until Oak ceases to pursue. His new PR person appeared to craft a nice response. Best thing for all is they kiss and make up. Oak needs to find a path. Should call Steve Stoute.

I just want this to go away 😭 I miss Oak. He should be apart of the Knicks, representing us during draft lotteries and crap. That said, he did act like a belligerent drunk that night. Eff Dolan, Oak should apologize to the people who were around him that night. This is an instance of two wrongs not making a right.

Never use Dolan and magnanimous is the same sentence.

Ever.

actually:

While Dolan believes he is magnanimous, he is just really an asshole.

So a drunk asshole gets kicked out of another asshole's bar.
Why does anyone give a shit?
Oak can stay out in the midwest and run his carwashes or whatever the fuck he's doing.

Thanks for the memories. Move on.

Good to know he's got the cash to waste on idiotic lawsuits.
