Knicks · Malik Monk playing well.. lost out on him (page 1)

TLover @ 2/21/2020 12:30 AM
Reports of Monk for Dennis Smith could’ve happened but with uncertainty in our front office we did not make the trade.. too bad bc we have no shooters on this team and he would’ve complimented Barrett nicely.
franco12 @ 2/21/2020 7:31 AM
I don't believe there ever would have been a straight up trade this year for DSjr & Monk. DSjr has been an absolute train wreck.

But if there had been a deal like that on the table, we should have pulled the trigger faster than you can say WTF!

Which is why mills was fired, and Perry is a lame duck..

Rumors say there was a deal on the table. I think mills was trying to save face by holding onto the DSJ pick, since he represents the return for the KP trade.

But I personally wanted Monk in the draft. And in that trade for DSJ.

Did Malik have 1 good game where he shot well? What did I miss?

Now we all about Mills getting canned for not trading for Monk? you know for a fact, like in the room kind of shyt or you just regurgitating blog stuff?
Anything I read had Randle's name with it.
Monk strings together a few good outings on the worst rendition of a hornets team since he there and now we all about making shyt up?
Monk is erratic shooter who while is better than DSjr this season, that itself is not saying much. Was there any bonafide interest by Hornets? Or we just assuming because he grew up 3 hour drive away this is a good thing for them?
Im not defending DSjr or blasting Monk. If DSjr is bound for the scrap pile why do hornets want him?

Chandler @ 2/21/2020 2:32 PM

"lost" out on him isn't saying much; keep in mind we thought he was as valuable as DSJ

He had four good shooting games, followed by four bad shooting games, followed by another good shooting game.

Base on his #s when the rumor came out, I could understand the hesitation, but he's been pretty up and down his entire career so far..Might be on of those JR smith types when all is said and done

martin @ 2/21/2020 3:06 PM
Knicks have Wayne, Bullocks, Dot, RJ, Trier on their roster... and they would want Monk?

Because they saw him in Dallas and know he is way better than what he has been in NY, and that goes for almost every player on our roster.

Sad but it's true

Wow , really ppl. Why make these threads? Why?

Just to pass time. It's been quiet lately, with no real news. But sometimes I find myself asking the same question.

So you feel that Monk is better than DSjr?
You likely feel better about Kupchek than Mills. That's easy.
And If I have Rozier, why do I want Monk? Or DSjr? I have the midget Devante Graham, why do I want another PG who has shot problems?
Hornets are shyt show. Their problems look better than ours. Grass always looks greener.
I'd rather go with Dennis for now and if I can't get him woke he gets waived. He is trending in Mudiay Territory. Not to say he can't play, just saying at some point you reach a cross road you have to decide.

Weren't they both rated 5th in their class coming out of high school? I still can't believe DSJ is as bad as he has been this year.

But it's not just DSJ, it's Knox, Mitch, Dotson, Frank, trier.

None of these dudes are really getting better, and their is just a huge void in the leadership Dept.

Idk Man, I can't even get excited about bringing in more youth this off season after witnessing the poor development in the guys we already have.

I was hoping Fiz would bring in some of the development that you see happen with guys in Miami. Miller is supposed to be a good developmental coach but it appears he is being asked to get wins first and focus on development second. There is also something to players and agents agreeing to come to the Knicks with the expectation that they will get playing time. Dealing with a guy you got in a trade (i.e. Kanter) is different than dealing with a guy you brought in based on expected playing time and opportunity (i.e. Portis).

The last 11 games Monk is averaging 18pts 2asts 3 rebounds with great percentages off the bench, 28 mins per.... that's him having a breakout moment.

THats a good stretch. Anything they attribute to this elevation?
And......is there a bonafide link that has a straight up DSjr for Monk trade?
DSjr before the trade deadline looked like he was putting it together here and there. Thats a start. He appears to be regressing again.

Hornets' Malik Monk suspended indefinitely for violating the NBA's anti-drug program

Was just going to post this. A shame. Sad to see such a young kid make bad choices. Hopefully its a learning experience. Does not mention what he tested positive for.
