HOUSTON – It looks like power forward Kenny Wooten will never make his Knicks debut this season.

Signed last month to a two-way G-League contract making him eligible to spend roughly 25 games on the Knicks roster, Wooten tore a ligament in his left thumb during a Feb. 17 Westchester Knicks game. He was to have surgery Monday night, the Knicks announced.

Wooten will be out a minimum of six weeks, so there is a chance the undrafted power forward from Oregon will be ready by the April 15 season finale. The defensive-oriented elite leaper was averaging 7.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 blocks. His friend Mitchell Robinson said Wooten is a better jumper than he is.

The Knicks had already been hesitant to promote him, feeling his experience in the G-League was sufficient. Sources have indicated they converted his pact to a two-way contract in January mostly to prevent another team from signing him away from Westchester as an NBA free agent.

“I couldn’t say medically where he can be,’’ Miller said when asked if Wooten is done for the season. “The point we were at and the plan was to make sure he was getting the valuable experience. He had a good year of development. He’s taken advantage of a lot of minutes he’s getting.’’
