Universities are closing, New Rochelle is on lockdown, public events are getting cancelled. Let's get the info out there.
Stay away, stay inside, stay healthy, help family and especially older relatives/friends.
March madness without fans:
Italy just closed all stores except for food and pharmacy
Don't know why but I keep tracking Italy versus US. US is 2.5 times size, so instead of 4 days to school closings, make it like 10+ days from 3/11.
Zombie apocalypse?
Naw.
pandemic coincides with the unbanning of Briggs? Related?
Last few week or so 1298 makes mostly logical statements?
We are doomed.
I love Italy. This shyt is messed up. I come here to escape.
A disclaimer though- I really regret reading so much about this now, it’s awful!
Forecasts have the US about 9 days behind what’s happening in Italy. Problem with calculating what’s going to happen in the US is more difficult though due to the complete lack of adequate testing (so official figures are probably below reality). The pattern in Europe seems to be roughly 22% increases in infections per day, or a doubling every 4 days.
I will refrain from making NewRo jokes. But seriously, everyone is freaked out where I'm at. I normally by wipes anyway, but toiletries, disinfectants, cleaning products are gone at most of my supermarkets. The sad thing is it won't do any good. The person next to you could be asymptomatic. Yeah, you can empty out the arenas, but what about camera crews? The flu sucks as it is. The idea of being to afraid to help my elderly neighbor out of fear that I could transmit something is scary.
At our faculty meeting today they told us to start taking our lap tops home in case school is closed and we go to online instruction. Scary times.

I've heard a few schools are doing that. We have the technology, so we mind as well use. My job has restricted unnecessary travel. I wanted to tell them I couldn't tell the difference between our necessary and "unnecessary" travel in the first place hahaha

Posted in the other thread, but I work for the NBA. Got some news today that all non-game events are to be canceled through the end of the season. The league is still determining on whether to proceed without fans for the remainder of the regular season or to suspend all play indefinitely. The call was pretty doom and gloom. Our government contact said that there will be a nationwide ban of large scale events soon. They have a model that shows upwards of 100 million Americans to contract the virus. Conservatively 50 milllion is expectedly, with 100,000 dead.

How goes your symptoms?
Doing better, thanks. Its a sinus infection, fortunately. I got the last bottle of hand sanitizer at Walmart before I started staying in last week. Have to make it last.
I heard Cuomo say that NY state has the capacity to make tons of sanitizing gel. Good for you guys in NY state.
Thunder/Jazz game postponed last minute. Does Gobert have it?
Just wanted to give an update from the UK. I'm a critical care and Cardiothoracic surgical doctor at one of the big London centres. One plus point is we are a very specialist unit so won't have usual ER difficulties. I've had to shave my beard for work (mask and PPE fittings) and we have now got full scale SOP models in place to be ready for what comes next. The big concern will be that sick patients are going to need a lot of intensive treatment more than your usual influenza treatment and that will place a massive burden on beds and workforce, with the usual trickle down effect on elective surgery, and other inpatient admissions.
Just a few important points.
1. Please please keep on top of your usual medications. Be even more rigorous than usual. Especially for diabetes and asthma/COPD.
2. Hand sanitizer is NOT a substitute for soap and water. Washing your hands with soap and water early and often is the best way to keep the virus at bay.
3. Cough and sneeze into the crook of your elbow please. Covid-19 is spread via droplets. Bear that in mind.
4. If you do decide to wear a face mask, do not touch the front of your mask when taking it off. The highest collection point for any viral droplets will be there.
5. Try and practice not touching your face. I know it sounds obvious but we touch our faces a lot and this can lead to contamination.
Other than that, it's just the usual. Help yourselves, help those around you. If you know someone who may be more susceptible, try and keep them safe and clear. Most healthy adults who contract the virus will be safe, however the same can't be said for those who are elderly, have underlying conditions or are immunocompromised.
If anyone needs any specific advice, Martin has my details. Always happy to help if I can.

If this is true why wait? That is out of control numbers. It will collapse our economy
Woj Bomb? Can't wrap my head around this....
