Considering recent history, the bold is pretty ironic to say.
40 years ago, they were writing novels about shifting antigen viruses that could wipe out most of the world's population. In the influenza epidemic in 1918, the virus actually used human autoimmune systems against them. It wore a person down by having the immune system do so much work fighting the virus, it killed the patient.
BRIGGS, 100 million people died only 100 years ago. I don't know where you get this "done well against the virus" stuff...

I don't know if this has been posted before, but it's quite an interesting view to say the least.
What? Human sacrifice wont fix the stock market? But the head priest at the temple of Fox said this is the way. You must be wrong.

It's 1% for just as long as you can treat enough patients properly though, when your medical capacity is overrun then it rockets up. I've been looking at percentages for a couple of countries, they always start quite low before increasing steadily.
The United States needs a lockdown for 30 days. No if’s ands or but’s. We should’ve done this when Japan did it 6 weeks ago. This has been a disastrous slow process and too many people not listening. Bottom line forget economy for a month— stay inside with your family and help your community if you can. Don’t hoard food or goods. Check on the elderly. We NEED a truth month of quarantine!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do t we just f do it??????
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
So lockdown is only a part of it. Need supplies and tests and the things that go along with testing AFTER the lockdown is done to make it long term effective. South Korean style
Our fed government has fucked up with long term supply chain of things and halted everything that we need to do collectively.
NYS/CA and other high hot spots can't just shut down and then wait on the dipshits in FL and other places
That's the Wall St line, we can survive a 30 day lockdown but the economy will die if its 2-3 months. They are ONLY looking at the money. Trump admin has completely fucked everything. Our rate of infection is higher than Italy and China. And to think they could have received test kits from the WHO by the millions and opted for early mass testing and quarantine instead of spinning this as a conspiracy theory.
Two million layoffs projected for this week..trust me the fucking GOP will find a way to make it impossible for people to qualify for unemployment benefits provisioned in the bill.

I think this will be the case:

And let's be honest, even if we do all of the things suggested, that's still no guarantee that we will get this thing under control. And we've seen enough cases to know that this isn't just an "elderly" disease. The idea that we should relax social isolation policies because this disease only impacts a certain demographic is dangerous thinking. Go back to the "Crack" epidemic or the "AIDS" epidemic and you'll see how this type of thinking almost sunk us.
In New York City, health officials said Friday that of 1,160 people hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms, one in four were between ages 18 and 49. That squares with what appears to be happening nationwide: Across the United States, about 38% of coronavirus patients sick enough to be hospitalized were ages 20 to 54, the CDC reported last week.
Young people outside the US have also been severely affected. In Spain, about 18% of hospitalized patients are under 50, according to the latest data. And in South Korea, more than half of confirmed cases are under 50, with the ages 20–29 being the largest age group. (The government doesn’t break down how many of those cases required hospitalization.) Anecdotal data out of the UK, where demographic data on patient ages has yet to be released by the government, also suggests that young people have needed intensive care in hospitals

I would make it completely illegal to step foot on the beaches for the next month. Give a heavy fine. Tell cops to stop worrying about people speeding and even DWIs for the next month.... or at least de-emphasize those things. Close the playgrounds too. Anywhere that allows mass numbers of people to gather.

The big question is for how long one is immune after having had the disease and recovered. So far, there doesn't seem to be a conclusive answer to that question, which unfortunately leaves this cycle scenario entirely plausible.
Oh, and did this guy really ever have grandparents?

A few years ago I did palliative care for my dad who was dying from cancer. He ultimately died of pneumonia caused by the cancer, I genuinely wouldn't wish that on anyone- it infuriates me, listening to clueless chumps like him in the video, because it shows how truly ignorant they are- he probably thinks a) it would never happen to him and b) thinks it would be some sort of peaceful dignified death. The reality is this virus causes a horrific death in which people suffer before succumbing to it. If a relative develops a bad dose of it while there is capacity in the hospital, they're taken there and you're not allowed to visit them until they either recover or die. Imagine that.
Even worse, if they get a bad case of it when the hospitals are overwhelmed, likely they will be told the can't have any treatment, so you'll have to nurse your suffering relative at home, hearing them gasping for air and crying in pain for days, while trying not to get it yourself, with no help from anyone.
Trump, guys like him in the video are so dangerous in this situation- if they decide to release the lockdown in 15 days, I honestly think they should be jailed once it's all over. 2,977 people died in 9/11 and it was rightly a national tragedy (also led to countless wars and huge changes to daily life and security). This virus could kill hundreds of thousands if not millions, yet Trump decided facilitating it's spread is fine because of the economy. Truly disgusting.

If Trump decides he wants the country to be back in business in 15 days, but the states/ governors decide they want to keep the lockdown, where does power lie in this situation?

What? That our president is a moron or that the majority of his sycophantic advisors are too shook to call him out on it? The good thing about social distancing is that I can most of his supporters go on about what a great job he is doing.

Italy and Spain offer grim warnings about the future. Hospitals are out of room, supplies, and staff. Unable to treat or save everyone, doctors have been forced into the unthinkable: rationing care to patients who are most likely to survive, while letting others die. The U.S. has fewer hospital beds per capita than Italy. A study released by a team at Imperial College London concluded that if the pandemic is left unchecked, those beds will all be full by late April. By the end of June, for every available critical-care bed, there will be roughly 15 COVID-19 patients in need of one. By the end of the summer, the pandemic will have directly killed 2.2 million Americans, notwithstanding those who will indirectly die as hospitals are unable to care for the usual slew of heart attacks, strokes, and car accidents. This is the worst-case scenario. To avert it, four things need to happen—and quickly.
Cognitive deficient narsassist sociopath. Time for article 25. Forget CNN, MSNBC, or Fox. Just listen to him speak and his actions yourself.
I don't understand the Republicans - to me right now, Trump is a risk to Republicans getting re-elected. I think President Pence would be re-elected, and might mitigate any gains Democrats might make.
