Considering recent history, the bold is pretty ironic to say.
40 years ago, they were writing novels about shifting antigen viruses that could wipe out most of the world's population. In the influenza epidemic in 1918, the virus actually used human autoimmune systems against them. It wore a person down by having the immune system do so much work fighting the virus, it killed the patient.
BRIGGS, 100 million people died only 100 years ago. I don't know where you get this "done well against the virus" stuff...

Two million layoffs projected for this week..trust me the fucking GOP will find a way to make it impossible for people to qualify for unemployment benefits provisioned in the bill.

And let's be honest, even if we do all of the things suggested, that's still no guarantee that we will get this thing under control. The idea that we should relax social isolation policies because this disease only impacts a certain demographic is dangerous thinking. I would make it completely illegal to step foot on the beaches for the next month. Give a heavy fine. Tell cops to stop worrying about people speeding and even DWIs for the next month.... or at least de-emphasize those things. Close the playgrounds too. Anywhere that allows mass numbers of people to gather.

A few years ago I did palliative care for my dad who was dying from cancer. He ultimately died of pneumonia caused by the cancer, I genuinely wouldn't wish that on anyone- it infuriates me, listening to clueless chumps like him in the video, because it shows how truly ignorant they are- he probably thinks a) it would never happen to him and b) thinks it would be some sort of peaceful dignified death. The reality is this virus causes a horrific death in which people suffer before succumbing to it. If a relative develops a bad dose of it while there is capacity in the hospital, they're taken there and you're not allowed to visit them until they either recover or die. Imagine that.
Even worse, if they get a bad case of it when the hospitals are overwhelmed, likely they will be told the can't have any treatment, so you'll have to nurse your suffering relative at home, hearing them gasping for air and crying in pain for days, while trying not to get it yourself, with no help from anyone.
Trump, guys like him in the video are so dangerous in this situation- if they decide to release the lockdown in 15 days, I honestly think they should be jailed once it's all over. 2,977 people died in 9/11 and it was rightly a national tragedy (also led to countless wars and huge changes to daily life and security). This virus could kill hundreds of thousands if not millions, yet Trump decided facilitating it's spread is fine because of the economy. Truly disgusting.
